I have written this document for individuals confident of their ability to administer a Debian GNU/Linux system. I make the assumption that the reader is familiar with the package management system, Debian's init scripts, and basic troubleshooting using the system's log files. I don't intend to discuss configuring Exim4 to handle incoming mail from off site, but rather stick to mail destined for the local domain from other hosts local to the network, fetched via POP3 from a live mailhost, or sent off site using a smarthost.
