Poll in editorial | Report this post to moderator
By: Mardus (Odo's file, contact) @ 20:50:05 on Jul 13, 2004

The msnbc editorial/article also contains a poll: "Sci-fi show you're most excited about?"

I've added detailed comments to the Tribblet about the poll.

Some of the choices listed are very prospective, so I suggest anyone of you to select a choice that is not "The state of Sci-Fi is boring.".

Btw, I voted for Farscape! ^_^.

What do you do for pedals? You need pedals to play most pieces properly...

And wouldn't it sound pretty bad anyway? Well, I guess it wouldn't sound much worse than an electric keyboard.

Still, I wanna get one! Even though I don't play the piano...

Well THAT Was Confusing... | Report this post to moderator
By: Jean-Luc (Odo's file, contact) @ 13:38:27 on Jul 13, 2004

Harry Lang, the Executive Director of Viacom Consumer Products was interviewed. A couple statements (within the same answers!) seemed to contradict each other.

"Viacom is the parent company of Paramount Pictures but does not take an active role in game development." Then two sentences later.. "However it is VCP that is primarily involved in the game production process."
Maybe the next question should have been, "What is the difference between 'game development' and 'game production' because they seem awfully close to me.

Another answer:
"You probably won't see multiple publishers out there releasing numerous titles competing with each other. And likewise, you probably won't see all games under one publisher."

What's the alternative to those? I'm not trying to rag on Viacom, but as someone who knows nothing about licensing, etc. I found some of Harry's responses confusing as Hell!

Happy Birthday Patrick Stewart!

"Outer Space: The Last Frontier.
These are the trips of the Star Trek Enterprise. Its five year plan calls for us to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly fly where no man has gone in space. Live long, and be happy."

If you put [Star Trek] before such words as titles and games, then I guess Lang's text is likely to become a bit more meaningful. Provided that the subject matter actually was "Star Trek" games.

Rollup piano! | Report this post to moderator

From above:

Hecsan Inc. has created and is marketing a new rollup piano similar to the one created for TNG's "Lessons".

Now THAT is damn cool!!! Image

This is sortof what I mean by those Trek prop masters being so visionary.... Whether in TOS or TNG.

And this:

The second season of QUANTUM LEAP starring Scott Bakula will be released on DVD October 26th, 2004

Damn. I wish it was coming out in September rather than almost the end of October. Especially since the 1st season had so few eps. But at least Sci Fi Channel has been repeating them again a little more consistently.

--------

"I think the show talked to people through the characters. They're stories that speak to the heart. They talk about love, they talk about friendship, they talk about loyalty, they talk about patriotism, exploration, curiosity, reaching out... And I think all those things still touch people. Even when you look at a 30-year old show, it still has something to say." - D.C. Fontana, Sci Fi Channel Special Edition TOS 1998
----
"If the season finale involves the re-built USS Reliant coming back in time to the 21st Century crewed by Moogie, Dr. Selar, Morn, Transporter Chief Kyle, and the Salt Vampire, then we'll know that Coto has gone too far." - tomba1701

On the MSNBC-site there's a poll on which sci-fi-show you'd wanna see and although Stargate is a very good show I must say I never thought to vote for anything but Trek. Yet...

It is a sad day and the good day to die has passed forever... :|

Well, the second season has 22 episodes, if that makes it more worth the wait for you...

"Serenity" is the movie "Star Wars" prequels wish they could be.

No it doesn't make it worth waiting. I want it NOW! Image
