Christian Slater on His Star Trek VI Cameo, Praises J.J. Abrams and the New Movie

Features

By GustavoLeao / 00:45, 4 November 2009 / Star Trek: Nemesis

DVD Playground posted an interview with actor Christian Slater, who cameo as an U.S.S. Excelsior crewmember in Star Trek VI (photo), and here is a brief excerpt from the interview.

And finally, as somewhat of a STAR TREK addict, there is something slightly off-topic I've always wanted to ask you. What led to you taking on the role of bit part random red-shirt in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country?

[Laughs] My mother cast that film and needed someone to fill in. Yet even so, that was probably the most nervous I had ever been in my entire career. I was, and still am a huge Star Trek fan, loved the new movie, thought it was great and applaud JJ Abrams for doing such an amazing job.

One of the best movies of the franchise - the ending battle scene is masterful and a classic. Glad Mr Slater is a big fan and liked Mr Abrams movie.

One of the few people in Trek history to get chewed out by Sulu | Report this post to moderator

So he shares Trek history with himself and the guy who called Sulu "Tiny" in ST:3 as guys who Sulu gave verbal (and sometimes physical) smackdowns. Well, them, and that Romulan on the drill.

He should have played Kirk.

(It's a joke. All bad one, albeit.)

loved Slater's cameo...loved Slater's carreer back then actually. Honestly, made the movie that much more accessible for me...

I also have a nostalgic twinkle in my eye when I think of Slayter's movies from that era. It was so cool seeing him get talked down from Sulu. hehe
