It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. Definitely. He did well with what he was given in NEM. Which was not the best material. But that wasn't his fault.

I love it. The only thing the vast majority of people on this site have ever seen Tom Hardy do before is NEM. They hadn't even heard of him before that. And, yet, they believe this gives them cause to judge him.

As for rebooting Mad Max with a new actor, that seems like a no-brainer to me. How could anyone reasonably suggest that Mel Gibson's presence in the film would be anything other than a detriment to it's mass appeal? Gibson's star has plummeted greatly since he started wearing his outmoded brand of Catholicism on his sleeve--he and his dad belong to a church that rejects the reforms of Vatican II--and of course let slip his antisemitism. Nevermind the guy's price-tag and the fact that he'd also probably want profit-sharing, story approval and the director's chair. You'd end up spending a fortune just to attach a big name (and, as Hollywood has been proving over and over lately, marquee stars do not necessarily equal success).

If I was a producer looking to make another Mad Max flick, and wanted it to appeal to the broadest audience possible, the first thing I would do is recast the role. Besides, since he's very good at it, I presume Gibson is content being a director.

Yes, and NEMESIS almost destroyed his life and ruined his carrer in Hollywood. It is nice that he is making a comeback due to the success of
the recent aclaimed movie Bronson.

Yeah, whatever any of us thinks of Nemesis, it wasn't so horrible it should deprive a talented actor from going on to have a decent career.

Why? Because you don't like the idea of Mad Max being rebooted? (fair point)
Because you don't want to see Mel Gibson being shafted like Bill Shatner allegedly was in the Trek film? (again, fair point)
Or are you one of those who hate everyone involved with Nemesis just on general principle (not a fair point at all)

If that last point is the reason, then oh, please, indeed. Just because an actor appears in a movie you don't like, that shouldn't color the actor. That's like hating Sean Connery because of Zardoz. Or Patrick Stewart because he was in Dune. Or Shatner because of, well, pretty much everything he made between Turnabout Intruder and TMP! ;)

Its because I just have a hard time imaging Tom Hardy in the role of Mad Max. Geting me to believe that he IS Mad Max.

As to the "Nemesis" can of worms, I am probaly one of the few that think the movie has more enjoyable things in it than not. Mostly I don't uderstand the virulent hate that some extremists have for it.

Had to laugh at your last sentence though. Shatner's non-Star Trek stuff is hardly watchable to me. Actually, I go out of my way to avoid it.

    Why? He's a good actor.
