Maybe. I don't really know. Like I said, I'm really not a Voyager fan. Any time I saw an episode in which Tuvok was featured, though, I always enjoyed Mr. Russ' performance.

For example, the episode where he mind-melded with the crew member played by the guy who played Wormtongue in Lord of the Rings.

I was never a Tuvok fan. He was a terrible character. With Tuvok, there was no where for his character to go in terms of development. There was no growth and that's one of the limiting factors with Vulcan characters per se, but with exceptions, like Spock who learned to come to terms with his human side and find the balance he sought built upon the friendship of his crewmates. T'Pol was rather an unorthodox Vulcan and was enticed by the opportunity in serving aboard ENT because it offered something better: life experience of exploration. If Tim Russ had played that character then we'd have a whole new ballgame that was interesting.

At least with Seven, there's was a journey of growth to unfold as she explored what it means to be human. She may have worn the catsuit but at least her character was growing, developing, interesting, etc.

I thought Tim Russ was a great Vulcan, unlike MOST Vulcans. If the characters didn't get fleshed out enough, it was the writers' fault. I don't think Janeway grew except in the finale; I don't think B'Elanna grew much, although she had a few key episodes. Harry Kim was underdeveloped. Chakotay was nearly useless. It was really Seven's show...and the Doctor. And, yes, the re-used a lot of plots. I really liked most of the actors, but Star Trek started, with Voyager, to make a big mistake---most of the characters were kind of like people you would know. They weren't larger than life. Enterprise took that to a new low. I didn't dislike the Enterprise characters at all, but the only interesting ones were T'Pol (when we FINALLY figured out her arc was to be an emotional Vulcan), Trip, and Doctor Phlox (easily my favorite).

The conflict in Voyager and Enterprise tended to be plot based, leaving the characters mostly in the same emotional space they started the show with. NO one in Enterprise, except T'Pol, really CHANGED over the four years. God, even Harry KIM in Voyager, a character ripe for development if there ever was one, didn't get to grow, really. And it wasn't Garrett Wang's fault at all. The writers never really did anything BIG with any of the characters.

Something I noticed with Tuvok...he was a little different in that he had a rage problem. He suppressed it with Vulcan teachings, but he had violence and rage in him. I think that was made plain in "Meld," one of the best Trek episodes ever in my opinion, and his choice of career as a security officer, not a science-type or diplomat. I wish they'd explored it more, frankly.
