Simon Pegg Talks Star Trek XII Rumors, Hopes to Start Filming This Time Next Year

By GustavoLeao / 03:23, 30 June 2009 / Star Trek: Nemesis

BreakingNews.ie posted a brief interview with Star Trek movie actor Simon Pegg (Scotty) and here is an excerpt

Regarding the upcoming Star Trek XII sequel, he said "I know the writers are busy thinking about it. I don't really know anything about the story, or if I'm in a bigger role, but I'd imagine we'll be back this time next year. That's not official, but I reckon it's probably about 18 months away from being in the cinema."

The full interview is here.

USA Today also posted an interview with Pegg and here are excerpts.

Regarding Star Trek and Ice Age, he said "Both of those films are hugely ensemble-driven, and it just so happens" that I'm in them, he says. "If they were my movies, driven entirely by me, then maybe I'd feel a bit full of myself. But I have no illusions about the fact that it's purely coincidence. It's not me. I'm just along for the ride."

It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. Definately Summer 2011. The specific weekend will be determined by J.J.'s schedule (assuming he directs) and what films are coming out that summer also -- including Batman 3 if they follow the current pace. Keep in mind too, if J.J. doesn't direct he'll almost certainly produce; giving the sequel some proper guidance at the very least.
