Ronald D. Moore Says Galactica Fans Will be Intrigued by The Plan TV Movie

Wired posted excerpts of a conference call with Battlestar Galactica producer Ronald D. Moore in which he talks about the upcoming Galactica TV Movie The Plan.

"There are definitely surprises," said Moore of the two-hour movie directed by BSG star Edward James Olmos. "If you loved Battlestar Galactica you're probably going to be really intrigued by The Plan because it's going to have all of these little breadcrumbs and throwaway lines and indicators and suggestions from other episodes. You've seen the show. You've watched the finale. You know how the story ends. OK, here's like an additional slant on some things that you didn't know about."

"I supervised and gave suggestions and follow-ups and I tried to keep the story and the concepts within the Battlestar world, but I really let Jane [Espenson] run with it," Moore said. "I mean it's really her piece and [Olmos'] piece. I was very happy to sort of let them take the reins on this one."

It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. I totally agree with you.

RDM says we'll be intrigued. But do we really want to be "intrigued" after the story has been told? I want intrigue during the main narrative, not after it has all been put to bed.

I loved BSG. Think it was the best thing on TV for years. But, for now at least, I'm sort of over it.

I have all the DVDs and will, like you, watch them all in chrono order one day - probably over the winter - so I'll buy The Plan and watch it then. But until then, I have left BSG behind.

They should have aired this story as part of the series immediately before the 3 hour finale. IMHO
