By GustavoLeao / 11:17, 29 December 2008 / Star Trek: Nemesis

TrekMovie.com just posted the first images of toys for the new Star Trek movie. The "Barbie" line from Mattel Toys includes 12" versions of James T. Kirk, Spock, and Uhura, featuring excellent likenesses of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana, to be available in April 2009, and should retail for about $45 each, according to TrekMovie.

You can see the full images of the "Barbie" figures of Kirk, Spock and Uhura, plus info on the toys, at TrekMovie.

Obviously, I could be wrong (Won't know until May), but I think you're reading too much into it. It's a couple of dolls and a poster.

You may very well be right, but I still feel safe believing that it's just part of the marketing campaign. Uhura's presence on the main poster gives it a much-needed dose of sexiness. And you can't have a bunch of Ken dolls without a prominent Barbie.

And in a lot of the "behind the scenes" interview pictures we see on this site we see JJ, Chris, Zach, and Zoe together with no Karl.

If I remember correctly, Karl Urban is from New Zealand. That may explain why he is not in as many publicity shots together with the other stars from the movie. He's just several thousand miles away.
I'm pretty sure they will get him for the main promo tour once we get closer to the release.

"Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a Barbie doll!"

But seriously, I was thinking the same thing when Abrams and the writers kept talking about Kirk and Spock without a mention of the good Doctor McCoy. The Kirk - Spock - McCoy dynamic was a critical part of TOS. If it is overlooked in the new movie something important to Star Trek will be lost.
