RE: A cold chill runs up my spine - and not in a good way | Report this post to moderator

As I said, I was exposed the materials a few months prior to the writer's strike - before many revisions were supposedly made. And I have said nothing here that would compromise anyone's career - including my own. Everything that I have said is part of public knowledge by now (or at least confirmed by the studio at this point). Maybe I'm a little arrogant to note that nothing that I have seen since (such as this trailer) undermines my presumption that the issues had not been worked out prior to the start of shooting a year ago. Oh well; I won't lose too much sleep over that.

As I have said many times, I am not a fanboy whining about the canon. To marginalize me as such is no different than what Bill O'Reilly does to his guests when they present facts, opinions, or what-have-you that don't jive with the GOP-centric editorial that he is presenting nightly.

The point I am noting is that this project was sold as the great thing that would fix the franchise within continuity after Berman and Braga broke it. When the project was announced I was skeptical - not seeing a way that this task could be achieved. Then I saw where they were going and I was more skeptical because I felt that J.J. and his team were taking an extremely difficult task and making it impossible by staging the story in the TOS era. Now, it is just clear that this will not work and the film will be a major disappointment for all. So, now I'm looking forward to May 9th to read the reviews as this failure makes "Showgirls" look like a major artistic and commercial success.

The sad thing is that after 45 years the "Star Trek" franchise will go out with a sickening thud and not a whimper.
