I have been (and am currently involved with) a number of scripted series over the past 10 years. When I was working on BSG my copy of the script for the mini-series had my initials and title watermarked on each page and each revised draft was also watermarked in a similar fashion. When the show went to series all scripts were accessed via the VPO which allowed them to keep track of each user who logged on and who had accessed drafts and revisions. By season 4 all parties involved with the show were required to sign a non-disclosure agreement after numerous leaks made their way onto SyFy portal and several other sites. In short, NO ONE wanted to discuss any aspect of the show for fear of reprisal from NBC Universal, R&D, etc.

So, having said all this and based upon my own personal experiencees in this business, it seems highly unlikely that you would risk the livelihood of the individual who allowed you to read the scripts and treatments (or your own livelihood, for that matter). Very few people would have had access to treatments, writers and production drafts for this film.

If you have read the script and have taken it upon yourself to discuss it in this forum than this would seem to indicate either sheer stupidity or just plain arragonace on your part.

Flavius: What do you call those?
Spock: I call them ears.
Flavius: Are you trying to be funny?
Spock: Never.

I have had issues with this movie too, I am still against this film, but what you just wrote, are not really good reasons to bash the movie. The characters all look different, because their are different actors trying to play those characters. The original actors are too old to play their former youthful selves, and 2 of the original actors are dead, they died of old age and illness as a result of old age.

You're kidding right? You want an onscreen explanation for why they characters are being portrayed by different actors? omg, now I've heard it all...

I mean come 'on folks, suspension of disbelief is one thing - but this is supposed to be air tight.

At what point has anyone said that the transition into the "new" Trek was going to be airtight? Who, if anyone, said that there weren't going to be any holes in the new movie? They're taking one of the most iconic franchises of all time, and changing it in a major way. How in the hell could they (or you) think for a second that it's gonna be airtight?

treatments and scripts I read a couple months before the writers' strike.

Quite simply, this never happened. You know it, I know it and everyone reading this knows it.

Quote:
This is supposed to blend seamlessly with "The Cage" and "Where No Man Has Gone Before"

No it's not. Nobody associated with the film has EVER said anything like that. Period.

Quote:
Nothing that I have seen so far concurs with that assessment.

And nothing in your comments is even close to objective, factual, or even remotely sensible.

An onscreen explanation for the new actors? Really? That's the best fanboy whining I've heard yet, and there's been some good ones.

1) Where's the proof you read these drafts and treatments? That seems rather doubtful.

2) Who ever said it's supposed to blend seamlessly with the two pilots? That has never been said.

Why Sulu went from being Japanese to Korean.

You do get that it's just a movie, and these are actors portraying fictional characters, right?
