ComicsContinuum.com posted the complete list of IDW's Star Trek comic books for February 2009, which includes info on the second issue of Star Trek Countdown mini series tie-in for the new Star Trek movie. Here is the list :

In an alternate timeline in which the Klingons have conquered Earth, Jean-Luc Picard leads a dire struggle against the brutal grip of the Empire's iron fist. But a daring assault against the Terran Warlord's flagship leaves the rebellion with its most devastating loss yet, while the Klingon warlord Worf himself faces off against his hunted, mortal enemy: Hikaru Sulu.

You know, they could include a comic with the Trek 11 DVD; the DVDs for Wanted and 30 Days of Night did. It might even get some new people reading the comics/novels.

    So there are "tensions between the Romulan and Vulcan" in the TNG era ???

    well, at least this explain why Nero goes back in time to destroy Vulcan....

    Sounds interesting...I will make sure to read Countdown before I see the new movie...

      I wonder if it has something to do with the Reunification efforts by Spock and the failed invasion attempt led by Sub Cmdr Sela? That would be another great tie in, IMO.

        I think they will stay away from any TNG backstories in the movie - but they could use them in the prequel comic book. I believe Mr Orci has said that some TNG characters may appear in the comic book.
