MTV posted an interview with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams and here are few excerpts.

MTV: "Star Trek," this little film that you've directed that's coming out next summer, where do you stand on it? Do you have a final cut, music in place?

Abrams
: We've recorded most of the music, and we're about a week away from locking the movie.

MTV
: Can you speak to the running time? Am I in for two and half hours of brilliant "Trek"?

Abrams
: It will be a two-hour movie. I'm sick of these two-hours-and-forty-five-minute movies. Seriously, it's like I don't have enough time to say two hours and forty-five minutes. I'm exhausted just saying that twice. I can't stand it.

MTV
: Do you have it on your iPhone or something? I heard a rumor that you had "Trek" footage somewhere.

Abrams
: I did have it on my iPhone. Not the whole movie. I just had a little trailer footage. I showed Simon Pegg when we were at Comic-Con, I showed him this little trailer thing, and it was my favorite thing ever. He literally started weeping. It was ridiculous. He was sitting there, I mean, he must have been plastered. Because he was looking at my iPhone [crying].

The full interview is here.

who? Or does Abrams prefer to keep it a secret? For that matter, will it have the familiar Alexander Courage theme present during the score?

The Star Trek XI composer is Michael Giacchino (Lost, Alias, MI 3), Bill. And yes, according to reports and interviews, he will use the Courage theme in the movie.

And another little tidbit is the that the person who handled/did the percussion sets on the ST:TMP music many (many!) moons ago is also doing same on this ST soundtrack for Michael. I thought that was kinda cool.....full circle and all.

Not really a surprise seeing as every Star Trek film composer has used the Courage theme somewhere in their scores.. usually at the beginning, but sometimes elswhere, closer to the end.

Good piece of advice, rassmguy. I was going to say the same thing but you said first. Take it easy, people, it is just a movie.

I am an RN and I have worker in the field of mental health. It sounds like you may need to see your doctor. You have expressed some of the symptoms of clinical depression. Help is available; make the appointment. Good luck.

That's something which is best disclosed to someone via a real-time medium (e.g. in person or by telephone), someone that you may trust to help you make decisions about how to deal with your immediate distress.

"Any input without judgement or stupid comments, would be appreciated....if you don't understand, I would prefer you not reply at all"

Well, the thing is, you have to understand that if you start off a post saying you're SERIOUSLY considering suicide because of a movie (especially once you've never seen), then you're inviting judgements and comments from others. You're also clearly taking your hobby far too much to heart for good health. And I don't say that to insult or judge you. We all love Star Trek here, or else we wouldn't be visiting this forum. But no one should ever take the series so seriously that they'd consider suicide because of any aspect of it. It is, when all is said and done, just fiction. It's not life, and it's not worth ending life over. If you're seriously considering suicide over this movie, or are actually crying because of a throwaway comment from J.J. Abrams, then you need--and this is not a judgement, just honest advice--to turn off the computer and the DVD player, put away the books, put on a pair of sneakers and some relaxing clothes, grab a water bottle and go outside for some fresh air, to regain some perspective.

        "Sooo...anyone here ever consider...suicide??"

No...nor should anyone ever consider that over a movie.

has nothing to do with this upcoming Trek movie, or, any other movie....just, when I read that, I thought I'd throw my question out there...since, the thought has been on my mind alot and, i happened to be crying at the moment...not anything to actually do with the movie...but, I feel much better today, thank you. I'll probably hang in a while longer...yeah, but, just looking for some serious feedback, because, on the forum, I can be totally anonymous...so, no worry of anybody trying to interveen, should I decide to go ahead...you misunderstood what I was asking/saying.

Well, statistics have shown that those who truly want to commit suicide usually do so without telling people they're going to do so ahead of time. Those who want attention, not death, are more prone to bringing it up to others, in an effort to be talked out of it--but it's largely an attention-getting tactic, not a serious desire to kill themselves.

In any case, I wish you luck in getting the help you clearly need, because even if you're not seriously contemplating suicide (which I have to assume you're not, given that you're talking about it in a public forum), the fact that you're bringing it up at all means you really need to speak to someone--and not in an anonymous, online venue where no one can actually help you.

Star Trek forums are a great place to discuss Star Trek--which is why I very understandably misunderstood your first note to involve suicide because of the next Trek film--but real life is the place to deal with suicidal thoughts, not an anonymous forum.
