Intel has created a new website related to the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie, in which you can download last week's Comic Con poster. The site also features an image of a starship corridor, which looks like a corridor of the Enterprise NX-01 from Star Trek Enterprise.

The image is rendered in CGI and may not be related to the Star Trek movie - only time will tell.

You can find a larger version of the image here.

Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. We already know what the corridors of the revamped Enterprise looks like.

Had we not forgotten this image, then Intel's CGI prank would not have been treated as "possible fact". ;)

So it is clear this Intel thing is bullshit -- like the toy glider, another chance to blue ball fans with nothing really authentic.

What about the corridor shot that was revealed early on at startrekmovie.com? Isn't that the corridor design and therefore, old news?

Looks like Intel is using a photo from the NX-01 set. The bulkhead panel labels are in the same positions, as well as every lamp in the corridor, and the door handles...

They're definitely very similar. If this is an actual corridor from the movie, then at least the design will fit in well with the NX-01 lineage.

That IS the NX-01 corridor. See pics below.

A while back, this photo was leaked on Trekweb and was supposedly from the movie.

I put the NX-01 pic in as a comparison to the one in the article.

I said, "They're definitely very similar. If this is an actual corridor from the movie, then at least the design will fit in well with the NX-01 lineage."

To make it clearer, I should have said, "If the ILM picture is an actual corridor..."

Nope, that was all me. I was a little too hasty in posting a response.

What bugs me is if this (the pic in the article, lol) IS from the movie, then it looks EXACTLY like ENT's corridor, down to the handholds and ladders. If the timeline is what we expect it to be and the movie takes place over 100 years after ENT, I would expect there to be some kind of change, like a ship from 1951 would differ greatly from a ship from 1851.

It's the fact that the corridor is an exact duplicate of ENT's that I think this isn't going to be the design from the movie.

Right now I'm trying to see if the fourth camera at ncc-1701.com shows the same corridor it always has or not.

I'm thinking some graphic artist threw the image together... something that looked trekish. There are a few minor differences but certainly not equal to 100 years of design evolution.

Even the Remastered Trek hasn't gone so far as to physically change the interior of the 1701, so it'll be interesting to see what happens to fandom if this ends up being a revision to the TOS designs.

Personally, I think what's going to happen is Trek fandom WILL accept the new Trek -- but as an "alternate timeline"/"alternate universe" Trek, not as canon with the 1960s series and what came later. Sort of like how some fans are already treating the Enterprise series.

Given the talent and money involved, plus Leonard Nimoy, it seems to me it would be rather beside the point to debate "canon." If the movie is a success and spawns sequels, it will define what is "canon" for a generation. Those of us worrying about whether or how it meshes with an imaginary future, projected from 40+ years in the past, would be dinosaurs.
