Not true. I remember seeing an early poster for Star Trek that featured Kirk, Spock and Yeoman Rand! Including a hot female in that poster showed this show wasn't just a "sausage fest". That's why I disagree with the simple notion that a poster HAS to include only the most important characters to the plot. The choice of Uhura to fill the red section of the logo was perfect fine IMHO.

If you don't know what Star Trek is about, that poster literally wouldn't make sense -- and I think they're marketing almost exclusively to those people. In that regard, this poster does an excellent job of amping up the coolness factor and juxtaposing it with the fact that it's Star Trek.
