The latest issue of SFX magazine, just out in the UK, features a new interview with actor Karl Urban, the new Leonard McCoy from J.J. Abrams Star Trek prequel movie. Here are few excerpts, courtesy of Sci Fi Pulse.

What are your favourite Trek episodes?

"‘The Corbomite Maneuver'. It has a great McGuffin. And ‘Amok Time'. It's about the relationship between Kirk, Spock and McCoy, you get to see some of the Vulcan culture and I like how Bones saves the day."

Will the movie appeal to both newcomers and hardcore Trek fans?

"Longtime fans will be really happy with it. It will introduce Star Trek to a new demographic... it's just so faithful to the original character archetypes. It's going to be like the Star Trek that you know and, at the same time, like nothing you have ever seen before."

More from Urban on the McCoy character can be found at Sci Fi Pulse.

Nov 23Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. Part of me wishes that he would have selected Spock's Brain or The Way to Eden, just to see the responses some people on here would have given. Would have been gold... GOLD I tells ya!

But Quinto really looks like Spock, which is cool. In fact, if you wanted to draw Spock for a comic book, you could use either he or Nimoy as the template and the result would be the same. :)

Corbomite Maneuver and Amok Time are two of the greatest Star Trek episodes of all time. Great character stuff.

It would have been fun to have seen Jim Kirk playing poker the way the TNG gang did.

Coincidentally, I have Corbomite Maneuver playing on one computer at this very moment, while doing my work on another.

      rassmguy,

Love the Balock (sp?) voice :)

My favorite is Doomsday Machine. It reminds me a space version of Jaws, even the music reminds me of such.
