J.J. Abrams Praises Chris Pine's Kirk and Zachary Quinto's Spock, Says New Movie Works

Hollywoodoutbreak blog posted an audio interview with Star Trek movie producer and director J.J. Abrams. Here is a transcript of the interview, courtesy of Sci Fi Pulse.

"Right not we have a cut of the movie which has about 12% of the visual FX near done - but the movie is working and that's what seems exciting to me." Abrams said "What's amazing about the movie is the people are awesome. The characters are alive and they're great and you love them. Alex [Kurtzman] and Bob [Orci] wrote an amazing script and our amazing actors make it more amazing. It is really like... you know the fun of watching Zachary Quinto take on a role like Spock which is an incredibly deceptively complicated part. When you see the whole performance - there were things he was doing that I didn't even see or realise he was doing when we were making the movie - and to have Chris Pine come in and embrace this role of Kirk in a way that is so complete and emotional and funny and cocky and yet vulnerable. It's a wonderful thing. That to me is where I think the best news is. You need that to tell this story and it works. I think it is a testament to this movie."

The original report can be found at Sci Fi Pulse.

Nov 23Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. Also, at the risk of sounding incredibly un-Robertson Ave./West Hollywood, what/who the hell is "Pink" in this context??
