Slice of Sci-Fi posted a new audio interview with Stargate Atlantis actor Paul McGillion, who plays a cameo role in the upcoming Star Trek movie. Here is an excerpt, cortesy of TrekMovie

"I read for the part of Scotty, I was up for that for a while. That went to Simon Pegg, who is a terrific actor. ... J.J. Abrams is such a great filmmaker and, I can't say enough things about him." he said "[He's] just a great guy and so inviting and just a real class act. It was a thrill to work on such a big budget feature and I think it's going to be really great. I'm very excited to see it myself. ... It was really nice to be part of a huge franchise like that. I think Beckett's the first character to cross over into the Star Trek world from Stargate, if I'm not mistaken. It was cool to be part of that... to be able to work with somebody like J.J. Abrams who's done so much was a real pleasure for me and I'd do it again at the drop of a hat. It was a real thrill to work on it. ... I think it's something the fans are going to be really excited about and I think he'll keep the integrity of Star Trek alive."

The full audio interview can be found here.

Nov 23Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. STAR TREK VOYAGER's Robert Duncan McNeill serves Chuck as a supervising producer and director.0

He's a doctor, not an engineer | Report this post to moderator

Shame he didn't get the role of the engineer before Scotty...

..another reason we shouldn't worry is that he said he has a cameo, not a real significant part. According to IMDB, his name is listed as part of the cast but without a character assigned. For all we know he could be in the background in a non-speaking capacity.

Since Robert Picardo is over at stargate, I think this guy just mixed up his words. He meant an actor to cross over from stargate.

Integrity? | Report this post to moderator

Keeping the integrity of Star Trek alive? Looks like whatever integrity there was is going right out the window if Stargate is being put in the same universe. What's next? An Alien skull in the background? Does Spock travel through time in a phone booth? I've got it - a Borg cube (Star Trek) vs. the Death Star (Star Wars) vs. a ship that looks like an Egyptian pyramid (Stargate).

And yet somehow, I remain guardedly optimistic.

    Lighten up!

I think if he plays a character named Beckett in the movie, it would be great. I'm so on board.

Of course, he probably meant he's the first actor to swap that way...but it is an odd choice of words.
