Edward James Olmos Says Galactica Will Not Have a Happy Ending

The lastest issue of SciFi Now magazine features an exclusive interview with Battlestar Galactica star Edward James Olmos. Here are a few excerpts.

"It's not a happy ending, we end up with almost nothing," the 61-year-old actor said about the series finale "Twenty years from now, people will see this as excellent post-9/11 television. It'll be marketed in a way that demonstrates sociological change for the time."

For the full interview with Olmos, pick up a copy of SciFiNow issue 17, on sale July 2008.

The latest issue of TV Zone Special, out in the UK, has an interview with Galactica actress Katee Sackhoff. Here is an excerpt from the article.

Die-hard fans of the 1978 Galactica series are the first to point out that that show's Lieutenant Starbuck was male, and played by Dirk Benedict. When the re-imagined version of the character turned out to be female and Sackhoff was cast in the role, many of those same fans were outraged. But ultimately, Sackhoff succeeded in winning over many of those who initially had doubts about her and the re-imagined Starbuck.

"It's nice to have people identify with a character that you're playing and appreciate the work you're doing," she says. "However, I don't think I went into this trying to win over the old fans because you can't ever please everyone. Also, I didn't want to focus on people who were all ready to, in a sense, spew negative energy at me. So I just kind of did my thing, and it's great that some people have been converted, and it feels rather gratifying as well. For those who said that the character wouldn't work with a woman, it feels good to know that, in fact, it did."

More from Sackhoff can be found here.

The full article can be found on the latest issue of TV Zone Special magazine, now on sale.

Galactica and Buck Rogers | Report this post to moderator

Regarding the original Galactica, I think that the pilot episode and the Pegasus episodes were pretty good. Very epic stuff. Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict are really good actors and had good moments in those episodes. Galactica 1980, welll, really sucked....

Buck Rogers first season was fun, but in the second season they tried to do a remake of Star Trek and the quality went downhill from there.

Still waiting when they will release the 1970s live-action Spider-Man series starring Nicholas Hammond as Peter Parker. Man, I loved that series !
