Cinema Spy posted a new interview with TOS actor George Takei, in which he talks about the new Star Trek movie. Here are a few excerpts.

Regarding the casting of actor John Cho as the new Hikaru Sulu, Takei said "He was very excited, but also nervous about taking on this project and he asked me to have lunch with him. I told him, Don't worry. You're going to be fantastic. It's going to be a great career boost for you, as if you needed a boost, and before too long I'll be known as the old guy who played John Cho."

Takei also indicated that the met with director J.J. Abrams before John Cho was cast. At that meeting Abrams expressed concern over how fans would respond if a non-Japanese actor was cast in the role of Sulu.

"I did have breakfast with J.J. Abrams," said Takei. "He was concerned because he was going to cast a Korean-American actor and he thought there might be some discussion by Star Trek fans. I told him Gene's idea was to have Sulu represent all of Asia ... Apparently J.J. didn't know that, so he was quite comforted by that background information and went ahead and cast John Cho."

The full interview is here.

It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. STAR TREK VOYAGER's Robert Duncan McNeill serves Chuck as a supervising producer and director.0

"The idea of doing an impression of William Shatner… it would have no shot at succeeding. The character is Jim Kirk, not William Shatner." - Chris Pine
