According to ScreenRant, a reliable source said that "it's 100% that there will be a new Star Trek trailer with Indiana Jones."

According to the ScreenRant source, the new trailer will be a continuation of what we saw in the teaser trailer - showing further progress on the construction of the USS Enterprise with technicians working on the ship. There will be new audio, but no word on whether we will see or hear any of the cast
members.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a Paramount Pictures movie, premieres on May 22.

The original report can be found here.

Update : TrekMovie.com has been told by a trusted source that "things are still up in the air" regarding the next Trek trailer. However there will definitely not be one with Indy 4 or with Iron Man. The source specifically said there wouldn't even be another version of the teaser (which was shown with Cloverfield).

Never before, have the moviegoing public been blue-balled this much over a Star Trek film.. and teasers shown before VERY hyped films? I LOVE IT! :D

Does George Lucas know about this? | Report this post to moderator

This is a wonderful idea. Lots of people will go see Indy. Now, I wonder what George Lucas thinks about the new movie? I have never really understood what he thought of Star Trek. I don't think I have ever heard him say anthing bad or good about it. Maybe someone knows?

"Life's tough. It's tougher if you're stupid."
-- John Wayne

"Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence."
--Dr. Leonard McCoy

"I'm a politician, which means I am a cheat and a liar, and when I am not kissing babies I am stealing their lollipops."
-- Jeffrey Pelt, The Hunt for Red October

"Liberals, Intellectuals, Peacemongers, IDIOTS!!!!"

Actor Clint Howard once said George Lucas was a big nerdy fan of Trek. But Lucas doesn't mention it it, because it's a rival of his own sci-fi franchise.

    --------

"I would be happy for Star Trek to come along decades later with a new group of minds. I'd love someone to say, 'Besides this one, Gene Roddenberry's was nothing!'" - Gene Roddenberry

"...I think it would be wonderful years from now to see Star Trek come back with an equally talented new cast playing Spock and Kirk and Bones and Scotty and all the rest, as they say tomorrow's things to tomorrow's generations..." - Gene Roddenberry

He seemed at first quite bemused but then much amused by Shatner's performance here:

I doubt it will be a full trailer. My guess it will be more of an extended teaser, showing very little to none at all of actual film footage. Trailers aren't displayed usually until 6 months before the film's release date.

The report above pretty much says that it's an extended teaser, essentially a sequel to the first one with some extra footage of the shipyard.

It would be make an incredible amount of sense to put something in front of Indiana Jones. By then, it'd be a year out and it should easily be Paramount's biggest film between now and May 2009.

I think somewhere out there is an interview or interviews where Lucas acknoledges the influence/importance of Star Trek: The Original Series. If memory serves he was a fan, certainly not a Trekker/Trekkie but most people of his age had a lifelong interest in SF, from classic 50's films like "The Day the Earth Stood still" "This Island Earth" "Forbidden Planet" "War of the Worlds", etc. through the Twilight Zone and Star Trek. I attended a Star Trek Convention in 1991 at The Shrine Auditorium celebrating the 25th Anniversary of TOS, the highlight was an appearance of Gene Roddenberry (at that time in a wheel chair he would pass away a few moths later) with the original cast, "Darth Vader" arrived (A guy in jeans and a black t-shirt with a cape and a mask if I recall right) with a telegram from George Lucas congratulating GR on the 25th Anniversary, a pleasant tribute. GR responded by joking that Vader was what he had in mind for Mr. Spock. It's been 17 years ; my memory might be a bit fuzzy to the exact words but that is how I think it happened.
