Simon Pegg Says He is Signed On For Three New Star Trek Movies

MTV posted an exclusive interview with actor Simon Pegg, the new Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek prequel movie. Here are few excerpts from the article.

Pegg admitted that his first reaction when cast as Scotty was fear, namely fear of commitment. "I said, ‘What am I going to do?' I thought about it for a bit because you have to commit to a series of films and that puts you in a situation where the studio has some control over what you do. I called up J.J. and I said, ‘the idea is amazing but I'm worried.' And he said, ‘what's the worst that can happen? We hang out every three years and make a fun film?'"

Pegg revealed he's signed on for three potential Trek films but don't get too jealous. He didn't get many souvenirs. "I would have loved to have taken a phaser or a tricorder or even my Starfleet academy ring but sadly they hold onto that," he sighed.

As for his take on the famous Scot, Pegg was repectful of the actor who came before him. "I didn't want to go in there and do an impression of James Doohan. His Scotty is so definitive. So I decided to just channel my wife's family and do something that was a tribute to him but not an attempt to ape him."

CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. Well, the buildings in the foreground aren't futuristic at all.

Pegg may have "borrowed" the heavily-armed starship to hunt down the Yanks who snubbed him for the remake of his Spaced UK series: "Simon Pegg, one of the brightest stars of British comedy, has denounced as 'a flagrant snub' a decision to exclude him from an American version of his hit sitcom 'Spaced'."
