Welland Tribune posted an exclusive interview with Stargate Atlantis actor Paul McGillion, who has a cameo role in the upcoming Star Trek movie prequel. Here are few excerpts from the article.

"It does feel huge," he said recently about the Trek movie.

McGillion is thrilled to be part of the Star Trek franchise.

"It's something I'll look back on and say, 'That was neat to be part of that.' It's like being in a 'Star Wars' movie or something - even if you're in a little bit of it, it's a little part of history."

Regarding director J.J. Abrams, he said  "I can't say enough good things about what a terrific guy (Abrams) is. He came up to me immediately and said, 'Paul, thank you so much for doing this - I wish I had something bigger, but we just wanted to have you part of this movie."'

The full interview is here.

Wasn't this posted before anyway?

"I would be happy for Star Trek to come along decades later with a new group of minds. I'd love someone to say, 'Besides this one, Gene Roddenberry's was nothing!'" - Gene Roddenberry

"...I think it would be wonderful years from now to see Star Trek come back with an equally talented new cast playing Spock and Kirk and Bones and Scotty and all the rest, as they say tomorrow's things to tomorrow's generations..." - Gene Roddenberry

Aye, laddie. Simon Pegg said much the same to Empire Online...

"It's going great. I've completed my scenes but I've got to go back in two weeks to do some effects stuff. But otherwise I've done it and I think it's going to be fantastic."

On his favourite moment, as a Star Trek geek: "Just being there on the Enterprise, it was incredible. You're going to love it."

I'll have a tall glass of that green brew, Mr. Scott.

Shaken, not stirred.

Can't be any worse than the advertisment on the left for the first and only season of Bionic Woman, now available on DVD, haha

Fine fine! Let me chime in. I think Paul was one of the best things on Stargate Atlantis. Since they killed him off, the show has been waning rapidly. This past season 4 is the worst it has had, including the absolutely contrived and generally terrible season finale. When Paul's character came back for 2 episodes just before the season finale, he breathed life back into the show. It was a terrible mistake to write him out (for what reason? nobody seems to know!), just to replace him with a bland Jewel Staite.

I wish he got the Scotty role in Star Trek. I could really see him excel in that role and his Scottish accent would be perfect for it. However, I do like Simon Pegg and his nerd credentials are through the roof (just watch Spaced), so I think he should do an acceptable job, as well. I'm happy they threw Paul a bone, though, and gave him a role in the movie.
