Anton Yelchin Says Movie is an Origin Story, Talks New Enterprise - Minor Spoilers

Features

By GustavoLeao / 11:27, 22 February 2008 / Star Trek: Nemesis

Actor Anton Yelchin, the new Pavel Chekov from J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Trek prequel movie, is talking again, this time to the Chicago Sun-Times. Beware of spoilers.

"It is an origin story," he says. "It's really about how everyone's favorite characters ... got to the Enterprise. It's about how it all comes together. It's not just them arriving and saying, 'Let's just kick it on the Enterprise.' It's really an epic story full of different action and drama."

Regarding the new Enterprise NCC 1701, he says "The new Enterprise ship isn't straight out of the '60s. But they did take some '60s elements and keep them. The whole project is really a balance between the old series and the new film."

The original report is here.

Full of action and drama, why can't a trek movie have action and not retain its ideals? You need to relax and stop blowing things out of proportion (and taking things WAY out of context).

It's obviously the story of Sulu and Kumar and how they fought off the actor who played Doogie Howser in their quest for replicated White Castle in the Enterprise's newly-redesigned rec-room. The B-plot is going to be the story of Scotty and how he had to fight off dozens of british zombies just to report for duty onboard the Enterprise in the newly-redesigned engine room.

The final reveal will be that it's just Riker in a holodeck replaying a "movie night" scenario as he reprises his role of "Chef" on the NX-01.

So let me get this straight...the actor who plays Pavel "barely one of the main characters" Chekov is killing your optimism?!? Seriously...his words have more affect on you than those of Leonard Nimoy?!?

At this point, I'd have to say you're looking for reasons to dislike this movie. Seriously...this guy has REALLY killed your optimism? Who would have known that the actor playing Chekov would have such an affect on a fan? Simply amazzzzzzing....
