Nov 17 | Originally hired as co-executive producer to help with the second half of the show's first season, Kevin Murphy has now taken the reins of Caprica, the Battlestar Galactica prequel on Syfy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He now serves as an executive producer along with Ronald D. Moore, David Eick and Jane Espenson and oversees the day-to-day functions of the show.
Nov 12 | Star Trek star Zachary Quinto is loosely attached to star in the romantic dramedy Whirligig, reports Risky Business.Quinto would play the lead role in the independent Canadian film, which is aiming to shoot early next year. The movie centers on a man who, in a misguided attempt to woo an older woman, befriends the woman's adopted son.Chaz Thorne is directing the pic, based on a screenplay by Michael Amo, creator of the Canadian supernatural series "The Listener."
Nov 11 | The CNS Foundation, is hosting an on-line charity auction at www.charitybuzz.com. One of the items they are auctioning is a signed movie poster of the new Star Trek movie which has all the cast members and writers. The president of our organization is Carol Abrams, JJ's mother, and she arranged for the donation from Bad Robot Production Company. J.J. Abrams is also a major donor to their organization. The funds raised will go to help find a cure to neurological disorders in children. The auction link is here.
Nov 10 | Candice Bergen, Charles Lisanby, Don Pardo, Gene Roddenberry, Tom and Dick Smothers and Bob Stewart have been selected as the next inductees into the Television Academy's Hall of Fame. They will be honored at a Jan. 20 ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. "This year's inductees have challenged and shaped popular culture, changed television for the better and entertained us royally while doing so," TV Academy Chairman-CEO John Shaffner said. MTV just posted an exclusive interview with Star Trek movie actor Anton Yelchin, the new Pavel Chekov. Here are few excerpts.
But contrary to rampant rumors, the prequel won't be bringing back other original stars to give us multiple Captain Kirks, Uhuras or Sulus. "No," he revealed. "That's the only one."
About the change of the release date to May 2009, he said "I'm fine with that. ... [May] is the start of a bigger season for these types of large-scale films. Now that the writers' strike is finished, there's a little less pressure, and we can take our time with it."
Asked which scene he is most eager to watch on the big screen, Yelchin said. "The end, when you see us all together," he said of a pivotal moment that unites Chekov, Spock, Kirk (Chris Pine), McCoy (Karl Urban) and the rest of the iconic "Trek" crew members. "I can't explain how you get to see us all together, but it's pretty epic. ... You're on the Enterprise, and you just know it feels so epic. We shot the last scene in the film, and you see everyone in the gold, and the blue, and the red."

UPDATE : MTV Movie Blog posted an update on their interview with Yelchin. Here are few excerpts.
"[Classic ‘Trek'] is dated, and that's what makes it great," explained Yelchin. "But at the same time, we are making a big fat action film."
Regarding Tyler Perry's role in the movie, he said "Tyler Perry is in the Federation," explained the new Chekov. "He's one of the Federation captain officials, of sorts. I can't spoil what happens, but he's an official in the Federation."
"It's a sci-fi action film. Knowing nothing about ‘Star Trek,' and going in and reading the script, I was totally fine. I thought it was great, and really interesting, and a lot of fun to read. Obviously, there are special [in-joke] perks if you've been a ‘Star Trek' fan for 40 years. But I hope that anyone would go and see this film, knowing that it's gonna be an action movie."

The Chicago Sun-Times also echoes a little Yelchin yodel...
Yelchin will divulge only a few plot secrets. "It is an origin story," he says. "It's really about how everyone's favorite characters ... got to the Enterprise. It's about how it all comes together. It's not just them arriving and saying, 'Let's just kick it on the Enterprise.' It's really an epic story full of different action and drama."
He says the newly created USS Enterprise should make fans beam. "The new Enterprise ship isn't straight out of the '60s," he says. "But they did take some '60s elements and keep them. The whole project is really a balance between the old series and the new film."

In an updated report from the Niagara Falls Review, Paul McGillion promises that his role in ST:XI will be an amusing cameo for fans...
He shares a scene with the new Capt. Kirk (Chris Pine), and his character doesn't die -- meaning he could return for the inevitable sequels.
Even if he doesn't, McGillion is thrilled to be part of the hallowed sci-fi series.
"It's something I'll look back on and say, 'That was neat to be part of that.' It's like being in a 'Star Wars' movie or something ... even if you're in a little bit of it, it's a little part of history."
Eric Bana, the luckysonofabitch who schmoozes Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson in The Other Boleyn Girl, tells Dark Horizons, "When I read the [Star Trek] script, I was like, 'Wow, this is just too good to be true, and too much fun to miss out on. I just have to be a part of it.' So when, J.J. offered me the part of Nero I just couldn't say no."

Yelchin's comments consolidate several bits of info we've already heard from scattered sources, e.g. Marlene Forte's remarks about ST:XI costume design and colors "totally resembling" TOS wardrobe. And the casting call for extras who have "visually unique characteristics" that would suit a variety of alien beings.
CBS Rolls Out Classic TV Online
CBS has begun syndicating several classic series, including Star Trek and Melrose Place, across the CBS Audience Network.
The distribution network, launched last year with big-name partners such as AOL, MSN, Comcast and CNET, now delivers full-length episodes of a growing library of CBS prime-time shows on over 300 sites, including hits like Survivor and CSI. Now, CBS is reaching into the past to expand this offering, adding full-length episodes of shows going as far back as the 1960s, including The Twilight Zone, Hawaii Five-O, and MacGyver.
