Nov 17 | Originally hired as co-executive producer to help with the second half of the show's first season, Kevin Murphy has now taken the reins of Caprica, the Battlestar Galactica prequel on Syfy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He now serves as an executive producer along with Ronald D. Moore, David Eick and Jane Espenson and oversees the day-to-day functions of the show.

Nov 12 | Star Trek star Zachary Quinto is loosely attached to star in the romantic dramedy Whirligig, reports Risky Business.Quinto would play the lead role in the independent Canadian film, which is aiming to shoot early next year. The movie centers on a man who, in a misguided attempt to woo an older woman, befriends the woman's adopted son.Chaz Thorne is directing the pic, based on a screenplay by Michael Amo, creator of the Canadian supernatural series "The Listener."

Nov 11 | The CNS Foundation, is hosting an on-line charity auction at www.charitybuzz.com.   One of the items they are auctioning is a signed movie poster of the new Star Trek movie which has all the cast members and writers.  The president of our organization is Carol Abrams, JJ's mother,  and she arranged for the donation from Bad Robot Production Company.  J.J. Abrams is also a major donor to their organization. The funds raised will go to help find a cure to neurological disorders in children.  The auction link is here.

Nov 10 | Candice Bergen, Charles Lisanby, Don Pardo, Gene Roddenberry, Tom and Dick Smothers and Bob Stewart have been selected as the next inductees into the Television Academy's Hall of Fame. They will be honored at a Jan. 20 ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. "This year's inductees have challenged and shaped popular culture, changed television for the better and entertained us royally while doing so," TV Academy Chairman-CEO John Shaffner said. German Trek site Treknews.de claims to have a leaked version of the Star Trek teaser trailer available on its site, a clip that has also appeared on YouTube (search Star Trek). The clip features the classic Alexander Courage theme, blended with music from Star Trek: Generations.

Leonard Nimoy delivers the classic monologue in a vein similar to the end of Star Trek II (or is it the same?) over a star scape that travels through the solar system. Finally a TMP-era space pod appears and leads us to the familiar space dock featured in that movie, where the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 (as seen in The Original Series) is under construction.

The trailer concludes with the title "Star Trek", the date 12.25.2008, and the credits card.

Whether this is actually the trailer is unknown. Trekmovie.com has a report examining the piece and concluding it to be a fake.

Reports indicate the teaser trailer will be widely available in theaters and online officially soon. Paramount has confirmed that the trailer will appear online on Monday, January 21st.

Check out this forum; it's made by someone called "PixelMagic" who has created other such trailers for Star Wars Ep3. It's the first place I looked when I saw this fake (but good) Star Trek trailer:

For a fake it really is quite polished, but I'll be really dissapointed if this is the real deal.

Nothing fresh about it whatsoever. Needs new music, dragging out a TNG score from the closest just doesn't fit.

If I hadn't followed the project from the voice over I'd actually be thinking they'd wheeled out the original cast for one more adventure!

You know, what screamed fake first to me was the poor copy of JJ's signature "Bad Eobot." It was a bad rendition of the original.

Of course then there was that poor TWOK dub.....

Ah well... I would guess, or at least HOPE JJ's real one will blow our sock off. Hopefully with Michael Giachinnos taks on the ST theme.

That would be cool.

Now remember, in the Trekiverse when something is fake ya gotta be all Romulan-like from In The Pale Moonlite, and say, "It's a FAAAAAAAAKE."

Though I was very impressed with the fake trailer. Got the green blood pumpin.

    For that to be a fake, goddamn that is good!

    I really enjoy that whoever made this used Generations as the music theme. The SPock dialogue was from Wrath of Khan.

    Crazy, that video almost made me excited!!!

The German website says that it's a fake. Some of the proof:

- Nimoy's dialogue is taken from Wrath of Khan
- There's Wrath of Khan music in the score
- Leonard Nimoy is given top billing in the cast list at the end. That's not gonna happen.

    well every trek movie trailer uses previous movie music. i dont know why Nimoy wouldnt get top billing. he's the biggest actor in the thing!

    oh well, it's definitely an exciting fake if it is!

    my guess is its fake.. BUT...heres what we do know. it will be attached to cloverfield on the 18th. and it will in fact be the construction of the enterprise.

    but based on the voice over, (WOK) and the music (generations), its a fake.

    but it is a pretty impressive one. and regardless it gave me goosebumps.

    can't wait!

    Yes it was cool. Kind of like the person who took scenes from the old BATMAN TV show and somehow synched them up with the new trailer for the new Batman Movie..
