Roberto Orci Reacts to AICN Negative Review of Star Trek Script - Minor Spoilers

Features

By GustavoLeao / 05:44, 6 January 2008 / Star Trek: Nemesis

Yesterday, AICN posted a negative review of what they claim is the script of the upcoming Star Trek prequel movie. But today, Star Trek movie writer Roberto Orci posted several comments on the TrekMovie and AICN talkback message boards about the AICN review.

"Yeah. AICN for some reason has never liked us." Orci wrote "The best example was one of their review for Transformers. I forgot which one of those wannabes wrote it, but it basically said how much they loved the humor, the characters, the sequences, and the structure of the movie, but they hated the script. Classic."

"If this movie works, these same folks will say that JJ "saved" a crappy script with his directing, just like Shia "saved' our dialogue by "making" it funny."

"Whoever wrote that piece HAS NOT read the script, and I would trust Nimoy to tell us if we know anything about the Trek universe over just about anybody else."

Regarding the spoiler in the review about the Enterprise and Area 51, Orci posted the following message at AICN board :

"Let's see. Area 51 is a place where we supposedly keep aliens and spacecraft A SECRET. In Star Trek, earth KNOWS there are spaceships and aliens. You might've even heard of one of them. His name is Mr. SPOCK. You do the math."

Later, Orci posted another message at AICN talkback message board regarding the negative controversy caused by the review "Controversy is good. This "review" lowering expectations is good. Bring it on. Maybe we'll put flames right on the side of the Enterprise just for fun."

Yeah, I think Patti and some of the other movie detractors were the only ones who really bought into the AICN "review" and really I think it was just out of a desire for it to be true.

Although I do like the response to AICN, nice to see someone involved in a production basically telling a fansite to go fuck themselves lol.

LMAO! Classic!

"The idea of doing an impression of William Shatner… it would have no shot at succeeding. The character is Jim Kirk, not William Shatner." - Chris Pine

I hadn't really been to AICN before. Wow, what a burning hunk of vulgarity and cynicism that place is. I read in disbelief as egos swelled and profanity was spewed over the "defacing" of no less an American icon than Optimus Prime, of Transformers fame. All while decrying the superficiality of Hollywood.
