By GustavoLeao / 18:04, 3 December 2007 / Trek Books

Here is the cover and a brief synospsis for the upcoming Star Trek Deep Space Nine novel titled Fearful Symmetry, a Mirror Universe tale written by Olivia Woods, on sale July 2008.

A surprising tale of doubles, secret pasts, and alternate realities. In our universe a Cardassian sleeper agent -- Iliana Ghemor -- was once surgically altered to resemble and replace Bajoran resistance fighter Kira Nerys. That plan never reached fruition, and the fate of the agent remained unknown... until now.

Robbed of the past sixteen years, and on the brink of madness, Iliana is back with a vengence. She has already made one attempt on the real Kira's life, then succeeded in killing Intendant Kira in the mirror universe, and now the heroes of Deep Space Nine must stop the false Kira without derailing the delicate flow of history that must unfold if two universes, and countless others are to survive.

Nov 23Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. STAR TREK VOYAGER's Robert Duncan McNeill serves Chuck as a supervising producer and director.0

Good question.

This book was originally announced to be written by a new Star Trek author Leanna Morrow, scheduled for release in April 2007. The release was then pushed back to August and later taken off the schedule. In July 2007 it was announced the novel’s authorship had been transferred to Olivia Woods with a new release date of July 2008.

Hopefully they'll remember to update it and not send it to press with the wrong author! Now that would be embarrassing.

I might actually read this. I haven't read a Star Trek novel since I got put off them by the Enterprise books (long story) and I've never read any of the DS9 Relaunch books. But this storyline sounds intriguing. I hope this isn't the last we hear of the Intendant, though.
