According to Trek Movie Report, an inside source has revealed that the new Star Trek movie crew will be shooting at the famed Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park north of Los Angeles. No info from Trek Movie when the shooting starts, but Paramount scouts have already visited the area, according to the site. Beware of spoilers.

The area has been used in the filming of numerous Star Trek productions, including four episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series, including "Arena", featuring the famous fight between Captain Kirk and the Gorn, plus one episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, an episode each of Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise, as well as a brief scene in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

It is not known what planet (possibly Vulcan?) it will be standing in for in the new Star Trek movie, but a source tells Trek Movie that the famous ‘Gorn Rock' (photo) is likely to end up in the film in a homage to "Arena", just like this shot of Captain Spock on the top of the 'Gorn Rock' used for a Vulcan scene filmed for Star Trek IV (photo below).

This information is preliminary, of course, and entirely rumor.

The original report can be found here.

Nov 23Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. What happened to Iceland? Was it going to stand in for Vulcan?

So I see the title saying Trek is filming at Vasquez rocks, but in the text the only spoiler I see is the one given in the title, that Trek is filming at Vasquez Rocks. Everything else is history or speculations.

How is this for a better title. "Trek Filming Location Revealed - MINOR SPOILER"

The spoiler is the fact that the "Gorn Rock" will appear on the movie - not the fact that they are filming at Vasquez Rocks. But I like your headline, thanks, I am just not going to use it this time.

I think they will use Vasquez Rocks for Vulcan or even the Guardian Planet. Lets wait and see.

Gustavo

PS - I am becoming excited about this movie. Go figure.

I, too, am hesitantly optimistic about this movie. But, I'll hold final judgement when I see some trailers and maybe some early reviews. I'm NOT going to see it no matter what. (I'm still steamed for wasting $16 on Nemesis.) I'll only see it if I feel confident I won't get too upset over it, and, of course, hope to enjoy it. Man, I REALLY want to see an excellant Star Trek movie.

    Here's hoping...

I hope this movie doesn't become a collection of Star Trek's "greatest hits!" The Guardian? The Gorn Rock? Next they'll throw in Vaal from "The Apple!"
