Comic Book Resources posted a brief interview with TOS actors Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols. Here are few excerpts from the article.

Speaking on the red carpet at Hollywood Scream 2007 Awards, Koenig admitted he was not familiar with actors cast in the roles of the young Enterprise crew, but he wishes Anton Yelchin (the new Chekov) and the rest of the cast the best. "I'm sure he'll be terrific," Koenig told CBR News. "I'm sure he'll make it his own and not have to answer to anybody."

Koenig also talked about reprising his role as Bester in Babylon 5 DVD movies. "I know that Joe [Straczynski] has expressed an interest in having Bester back in one of the DVD films."

Nichols' involvement in Abrams' Star Trek prequel has been a little more hands on than Koenig's, having sat down and talked with Abrams about the project. "And I was just delighted that this young woman, Zoe Saldana, has been chosen for the young Uhura, and I'm really looking forward to it," said Nichols.

Honorary Scream Awards were bestowed upon original "Star Trek" cast members William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, George Takei, Koenig and Nichols, commemorating the 25 th anniversary of the release of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

I'm not... unlike us fans who are getting are info from the TV, internet and technical manuals.. these actors are professionals who do this for a living. They have actually MET each other, and seeing as the TOS cast is all over 70 years old now? I am sure they have a more stoic respect for young people in the field that remind them of themselves so many years ago.

I don't yet share Nichols' enthusiasm about Saldana as Uhura.

Nichols projected a hardened dignity into Uhura. For an archetype, I prefer Nichols' dark and round features. She looks wild and strong enough to cut a foolish man's throat. Sensual and earthy, built for making love and plump babies. The kind of woman that has driven red-blooded men into poetry and war.

In comparison, Saldana's vibe seems flimsy and high-maintenance.

JMS said the next B5 DVD movie will feature Garibaldi and Londo. But, yeah, a movie with Bester and the Psi-Corps would be awesome (with a bigger budget, of course).

      Londo

Just as good. I'll take it!

Man oh man do I miss that character, G'Kar, and Bester. It's been two or three years now, I think it's time to start netflixing B5 again.

I bought the "first" new disc, but was enough money made to warrant more? I'd sign on, but I don't know if there was enough purchased to have the studio push for more.

You know, I was too at first but the more I thought about it makes sense why they are so supportive. These characters are theirs. They made them what they were. They started out as actors doing job. They each became icons of American history. I'm assuming that they are pleased to know that their characters will be a introduced to a new generation of fans. Such as thus, they themselves will never be forgotten as the original crew of the Enterprise. I know I am kind reaching here, but it is kind of like a parent / child scenario. Our imortality is achieved through our children. Am I making any sense?

    Maybe they paid them off!

Seriously though, I'm not all that surprised. Nimoy, Nichols, Takei, and Koenig always struck me as classy folk.

As for Bill, he's still vying for a part in the movie which explains why he's still playing nice.

I dunno, Bill seems sincere and optimistic in his casting approval and support for the movie. He seems really sad because he is not in the movie.

Perhaps you're right. I don't why, but the subject of Shatner has been bothering me lately.

The original cast seemed to have such a difficult time with the guy, and now all these fans are saying "Shatner or bust". Maybe I'm just getting tired of the Shatner fanatics who say they will boycott the movie if he is not in it.

But really, I think Shatner is undermining the film to be posting weblogs directed at fans pining to make the next movie all about Bill Shatner ... again. Then again, it does seeming to be garnering a lot of media attention. I have a feeling the controversy will just become bad publicity, however.
