Rene Auberjonois Says Deep Space Nine is Over

Features

By GustavoLeao / 20:02, 8 October 2007 / Deep Space Nine

The latest issue of SFX magazine, just out in the UK, features a brief interview with former Star Trek Deep Space Nine actor Rene Auberjonois, now a regular on Boston Legal. Here are a few excerpts.

Would you ever want to go back to the role of Odo ?

I think it's over. One never says never, but I can't imagine it happening, so I don't really think about it. I'm a character actor and I played a lot of characters before I played Odo and I've played a lot of characters since I played Odo, so I just keep plying my wares.

Where do you think Odo would be now ?

He's in the goo. Whatever he's doing he's there, taking care of business with his people, trying to get them to not be so paranoid.

Would any of Odo's skills have helped you in real life ?

In a sense I have some of them because I'm a character actor !

With a "Pilot" budget they could do some great things. They could also do "limited showings" like the theatrical run of "The Menagerie" next month.

It at the very least would drum up some inerest for DVD sales. Unfortunately I think a LOT of Trek's future rests with XI. Unless ut's even moderately successful no one would be willing to pony up for that.
