Michael Okuda Says J.J. Abrams Will Do a Wonderful Job in Star Trek XI

Trek Movie Report posted a report on the Star Trek Remastered team panel at the recent Grand Slam SciFi Summit convention last weekend. Producers Dave Rossi, Mike Okuda and Denise Okuda along with visual effects supervisor Niel Wray were present and showed off a four minute reel of the new effect and even showed some clips from upcoming shows as well.

One question from the audience was about the Remastered team's involvement in Star Trek XI. Michael Okuda answered for the group saying that they would obviously love to work on the project, but noted that they were all currently at work on their own projects, including the Remastered project. He also praised J.J. Abrams saying:

"Abrams has a fantastic team in place. If you have seen Lost or Alias or Mission: Impossible III, he has fantastic people. The great thing about Abrams and his team, if you look at his product, you know that they know the genre. They will do a wonderful job."

The full convention report can be found here.

Nov 23Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. I agree with what Tupperfan and Terry212 said. I'd add that Okuda and others may also just feel like some fans are being ridiculously pessimistic about any new ideas. "NO ONE CAN DESIGN A BRIDGE GRAPHIC BUT YOU, OKUDA! NO ONE BUT YOU!"

They're staying graceful out of professionalism and the hope that they might be invited to work with Abrams.
