The latest issue of Star magazine features a brief article on Star Trek XI. According to the magazine's insiders, former Alias star Jennifer Garner are in talks to play young Spock love interest in the the upcoming Star Trek movie.

Here is a transcript of the full article :

"Can a Young Mr. Spock handle Jen Garner in a Star Trek Prequel ?

SPOCK LOVES JEN GARNER!

Star has learned exclusively that in the new Star Trek film, which is a prequel to the original hit series, the outwardly emotionless vulcan Mr. Spock has a love interest! Not only would Jen, 34, "be just the right person for Star Trek because she's a chameleon," an insider says, but the film's director, J.J. Abrams, cast her on Alias and has a history of giving jobs to people he worked with before ! Beam her up !"

This information is preliminary, of course, and entirely rumor.

Thanks to "Timmer" for the magazine scan.

Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. Well I for one will not go see this if they cast her in the movie. I still hold the belief they have to go with unknowns for this picture to work, especially as a prequel! Gary Sinise 52, is too old to play a young Dr. McCoy set before the original series as DeForrest was 46. Granted he looks the part and could probably pull it off but not as a prequel! If they cast all big name stars what's left in the budget for F/X and profit margin. J.J. Abrams has even promise more action then previous Trek films, if I'm not mistaken that fact didn't help Nemesis! This movie is starting to sound like the final nail for the franchise!
