CBS CEO Leslie Moonves has given notice that the new company plans to sell its Paramount Parks division, due to lack of synergy with CBS's other content-driven units. The unit generates $1.1 billion annually and accounts for 8% of CBS's current revenues.

According to CNN, parks included in the unit include Paramount's Kings Island in Cincinnati; Paramount's Great America in Santa Clara, Calif.; Paramount's Kings Dominion, in Richmond, Va.; Paramount Canada's Wonderland in Toronto; Paramount's Carowinds in Charlotte, N.C.; and the Star Trek: The Experience attraction at the Las Vegas Hilton.

No information is yet available about how the sale might affect the STAR TREK attraction in Las Vegas, which recently added BORG INVASION 4-D.

Would the parks still be endorsed by Paramount? I can't imagine King's Island without giant movie posters next to the rides.

I can see a lack of synergy perhaps with the majority of the parks but it seems synergy exists with star trek the experience and star trek the franchise. I don't know what the other sites feature, but the Vegas one seems to fit the bill. It's Trek, it's a form of merchandising. It apparently does fairly well. If they can keep it, they should. Trek seems to be their main franchise that Paramount has - Lucas has his Star Wars and is able to merchandise it very well under many different ways. I don't know how Paramount handles it but it would seem to make sense to have say a branch company of Paramount oversee all Trek merchandising exclusively - from the website to the DVDs, to the contracts that exist for the books, to action figures to this Vegas attraction.

I would guess since Trek fandom is at an all time low and Paramount has run Trek into the ground that less people would be going to the Star Trek Experience. Paramount has squeezed the franchise dry so it is their own fault.
I went to the original S.T invasion about 8 years ago. A lot of fun. Unfortunately I have not seen the new Borg experience.
