Patrick Stewart on X-MEN 3 Role and Serious Plans for STAR TREK XI

Features

By GustavoLeao / 04:31, 2 December 2005 / Star Trek: Nemesis

Empire Online caught up with STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION star Patrick Stewart who talked a bit about Professor Xavier in upcoming X-MEN 3 movie.

"Well we lost two directors! But everything was fine when I left the set. I've finished my filming now and it's all looking great," he said

About his role in the new sequel, he said, "You'd need about an hour to hear all about it. There are going to be some changes. Professor X is now very, very startling, very surprising. It's all very exciting."

The original report can be found here.

Stewart also told UK's Teletext that plans are afoot to make another TNG feature film for the big screen, as revealed this week by SFX Magazine (story)

Despite plans at Paramount for a TREK prequel movie featuring an all-new cast -- currently titled STAR TREK: THE BEGINNING, Stewart said, "About four months ago at a meeting in Los Angeles the subject was raised quite seriously from a very interesting point of view. I have been saying for four years now that it's over. No fantasies about it coming back, the space suits have been hung up for good."

"But there are weighty people in Hollywood who are very interested in one more run around the holodeck. There are serious plans."

"I was told this may happen two or three years down the road, by which time I'll be able to sit again in the captain's chair, but then again, it's not all that far away and if I'm in good shape I'd love to do it."

Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. Riker would get stronger support from fans than you might think. As I recall many people were impressed with the Borg cliffhanger during the series with him captain. He has a fairly commanding screen presence.

A Riker/USS Titan movie would be cool with the story centering mostly on a new character that is not necessarily part of the command crew for that ship. It could even be a well-known actor to get some crossover appeal from the mainstream films.

Actually, the "Big E" is probably my favorite of them all... or at least tied with the 1701 Refit. It's a lot tougher than the D was... it seemed like the D was always a few microns away from a warp core breach, with shields that seemed to buckle on a weekly basis. I would, however, like to see the E be upgraded with the ability to separate like the other Enterprises did.
