OK, is he dying or something? | Report this post to moderator

I'm looking at the very rare and sometimes intimate, personal items he's put up for bids online (the bottle of Dom from Rick Berman for his engagement, his house, etc.) and I can't help but wonder ... why?

I'm not sure I could ever let go of these memories.

Hmmmmm...I wonder just exactly HOW he "acquired" all this neat stuff?

Uh, well..... I worked on the show for many years and was part of the production staff. So most of the stuff was given to me. The Star Trek movie posters that hung in the production office for 15 years belonged to me personally. Most of the other items were gifts from the producers to the production crew, or items like scripts and such which were distributed to everybody who worked on the show, including me. I didn't steal the stuff, if that's what you're suggesting.

The Discovery Channel is looking for collectors of ST TV shows' memorabilia to spotlight in our newest show, Pop Nation. If you live in the Los Angeles area, we encourage all collectors to register for our July 2nd, 2005 convention at our website: http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/popnation/popnation.html

Also, if you are a truly avid collector (which I'm assuming you are), we'd be interested in flying out to talk with you. Please reply to dlevin@ttpro.net.

P.S. Please reply ASAP, and any other collectors are encouraged to reply as well.

    LOL!

    No, I'm not dying!

I've been a Star Trek fan for over 30 years. I still love the original series more than anything (and can hardly wait for the "In a Mirror, Darkly" episodes coming up on Enterprise this week and next.)

But I've also accumulated A LOT of stuff in those 3 decades and now that Enterprise has ended, I feel like a certain "era" in my life has come full circle.

And now it's time to move forward into the future and leave the past in the past.

My wife and I seek to improve our quality of life (which isn't always easy living in Southern California) and we'd like to downsize our personal debt and try live a more utilitarian lifestyle as we approach (what he hope will be) early retirement in a few years (and more travel!).

To reach that goal, we've decided we have to purge decades of collections and "stuff" that fill the recesses of our lives. (My wife is also getting rid of all her Soap Opera memorabilia and Beanie Baby collection!)

I just feel that some of this stuff would be more closely cherished by other fans who are far more devoted to the franchise than I have been in recent years. Knowing that this stuff has gone to people who will appreciate it and cherish it as much (perhaps more) than I did, makes me happy.

    Live Long & Prosper!

    ~ Eric

      Thank you, Mr. Stillwell.

Your contributions to our favorite "reality" have been considerable, already.

In my opinion, your decision to make your collection available to other fans is truly cool.

I hope that you and your wife do "live long and prosper".
