T'Pol and Trip's Bond | Report this post to moderator
By: EntFan! (Odo's file, contact) @ 07:46:35 on Mar 25, 2005

Every pretty much knew about the double meaning behind this episode's title.

Bound in the meaning that Archer is bound in agreement with the Orions to take these slave girls or else insult them.

And two, Bound, meaning T'Pol and Trip becoming psychically linked via their neuropressure sessions, which pretty much lead to the creation of their relationship.

This should be pretty good, especially for all of us who enjoy the romance between Trip and T'Pol....

So - if we take this statement as fact: it tells us that there are no men on board ENT who are married or have any fiancees waiting back at Earth for their men in uniform because, otherwise, we have unfaithfulness amongst some of them if all the men were seduced. It also tell us that none of the crewmen are gay. Not even one. I guess the 'don't ask-don't tell' policy is still enforced 150-years from now.

Perhaps they use the Orion girls as a way of outting. Well..that's worthy of a discrimination lawsuit!

And - none of the women are lesbians, or at least bi-sexuals on ENT - and are not tempted? Come on! One female MACO - not gay?? Not possible.

As for Trip: he's the only one who resists the temptations because of his love for T'Pol.

Now...that's love, ENT-style.

Uhm...you've never heard of pheremones have you? And you haven't been keeping up with Vulcan lore in Star Trek as well have you?

One, Pheremones are chemical scents that everyone has. They are really undetectable but truthfully is what jump starts the sexual interest in our primal urges that go all the way back to the monkeys in the trees that we use to be. It's just the basics of life.

As explained in previous episodes of TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY, Orion Slave/Animal Women have exceptionally strong pheremones. So much so that it can almost hypnotise a man into forgetting any romance that he has at all.

Yet, there is one reason why it doesn't work for Trip. Not just because of his love for T'Pol. But also the factor that they are psychically linked in a Vulcan "bond". Which is the result of their neuropressure sessions back in season three.

So, even though the pheremones are sending signals to Trip to be all over these three gals, he has the psychic link with T'Pol that is keeping him sane, and in the end result, protected from going gaga over these girls...

Edit: Removed comments. It clicked right after I posted that this was intended as a joke. Never mind...

Trek's never openly accepted the roll of making the gay statement. Look, I'm gay, and why bring it up for this episode? This is a typical TOS romp. Give the lawsuit up buddy. It's TV.

Then please accept my apology for poor humour on my part.

You're right of course: it's just TV and a-romping they are a-doing.

Ah, please accept my apology for not knowing it was a joke. I don't mind the gay jokes actually. I just can't stand imposing the "gay" guy on the writers, like if they don't they're bad people. I didn't know you were being sarcastic, so my mistake... :-)

Can't believe...just a few episodes left before the final...and they're wasting a whole episode on already seen orion slave girls, and slimy hormon-filled story. Bah.

You talk about it like they knew this at the time.

Besides, if you're going to accuse them of anything, accuse them of ripping off "Mudd's Women".

why does trip resist the orion-girls ??
If bobbi sue luther appeared in front of me as an orion-girl I would'nt resist her, nor as her self either.., or any orion-girl, so trop shall, resist them, i don't undestand that...If i were trip and should choose between t'pol or an orion-girl i would(although t'pol is hot!!), pick the orion-girl.

We saw some weird telepathic stuff going on a couple of eps ago (or was it just one ep?).

Perhaps he has somehow telepathically bonded with T'Pol, and that's why he's uninterested in anyone else.
