Nov 17 | Originally hired as co-executive producer to help with the second half of the show's first season, Kevin Murphy has now taken the reins of Caprica, the Battlestar Galactica prequel on Syfy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He now serves as an executive producer along with Ronald D. Moore, David Eick and Jane Espenson and oversees the day-to-day functions of the show.

Nov 12 | Star Trek star Zachary Quinto is loosely attached to star in the romantic dramedy Whirligig, reports Risky Business.Quinto would play the lead role in the independent Canadian film, which is aiming to shoot early next year. The movie centers on a man who, in a misguided attempt to woo an older woman, befriends the woman's adopted son.Chaz Thorne is directing the pic, based on a screenplay by Michael Amo, creator of the Canadian supernatural series "The Listener."

Nov 11 | The CNS Foundation, is hosting an on-line charity auction at www.charitybuzz.com.   One of the items they are auctioning is a signed movie poster of the new Star Trek movie which has all the cast members and writers.  The president of our organization is Carol Abrams, JJ's mother,  and she arranged for the donation from Bad Robot Production Company.  J.J. Abrams is also a major donor to their organization. The funds raised will go to help find a cure to neurological disorders in children.  The auction link is here.

They will be honored at a Jan. 20 ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. "This year's inductees have challenged and shaped popular culture, changed television for the better and entertained us royally while doing so," TV Academy Chairman-CEO John Shaffner said. Jolene Blalock Talks About ENT Torturous Shooting Schedule and Her Upcoming Movie

Jolene Blalock is featured in the January 9th,, 2005 edition of the Sunday paper insert PARADE magazine in the column InStepWith by James Brady. Blalock talks about her new movie SLOW BURN, her long days shooting ENTERPRISE and calls Scott Bakula "amazing". Here are a few excerpts :

Asked about her demanding role as the Vulcan subcommander T'Pol on the UPN show, the busy actress said, "We work a 14-hour day. I report in at 5 A.M. for makeup. I wish it could just be spray-painted on, but it can't. But it's not so bad. The women who work on me are wonderful. We do a lot of gabbing."

When asked if the production team can't do these things digitally, she answered, "We have that as well. Some scenes that I'm in, I'm not really in them, but it looks as if I am."

Blalock described their shooting schedule as torturous. "Not that the first few seasons weren't hard," she explained. "And last season we came home with many more bruises. The story line changed, and for the better--not a plethora of evildoers now but more focused on fewer arch-evil characters."

And what about her captain? "Scott Bakula is amazing," she said. "He's an incredible leader for us."



The article went on to mention that Jolene also has a new film in the can with Ray Liotta and LL Cool J - a thrilled called SLOW BURN. She plays a sort of femme fatale assistant D.A. working for, but manipulating, Liotta. "She's on her own path of destruction," Jolene said. And Ray? "He's very talented. Everything he does is very sure and adamant." And LL Cool J - what's his role? "I can tell you he's an informant," she replied "But I don't want people to know all the twists and turns. This is one of those movies where the less said, the better." The article also mentions Blalock's interest in Thai boxing and photography.

Where is she when the camera is rolling then? Why isn't she on set for her scenes? I've never heard of anything like this on Star Trek. I feel kinda cheated, in a way.

She is smoking hot though. I guess I forgive her.

    I think what she is talking about are certain long shots that involve digital doubles of the actors in scenes with effects. Like in the scene where Archer was blown out into space from Cold Station 12. That was a digital double of him. There have been similar shots like this since the beginning of the series, with most of the main cast.
    The interviewer asked a really stupid question. Pretty much can her Vulcan ears be put on digitally, so she would not have the long make-up time...it does not work like that! So Jolene answer was, I guess there are some shots that have a "digital me" in. It is not like she is talking about normal scenes with dialogue though.
