Lets see, of all the "prequels" in recent years (Star Wars, Enterprise) none have lived up to their original counterparts.
Rick Berman needs to get off this prequel stuff and instead move the series, or a movie, past the time of TNG and farther into the future.
Give us something new and exciting to look forward too. Not just cheesy sets and bad acting!
Oh, and if there is a next movie, please make sure that they hire a competent director who has more than one failed movie to his credit!
In a way, I'm glad this film is being moved to the backburner because it seemed to be setting itself up for failure. One of the problems with the franchise of late is rushing stuff into production and biting off more than one could chew.... all for the buck. And inevitably this can and has lead to failure.

"I think the show talked to people through the characters. They're stories that speak to the heart. They talk about love, they talk about friendship, they talk about loyalty, they talk about patriotism, exploration, curiosity, reaching out... And I think all those things still touch people. Even when you look at a 30-year old show, it still has something to say." - D.C. Fontana, Sci Fi Channel Special Edition TOS 1998

I never claimed to be good at english, where in my post did i say that?
and i actually have to appologize to you scorned i meant that post for Bmust die who said he walked away from trek with generations.
my fault
oh and just so you know i might be shit at english, spelling and grammer but i do have a biology degree, and 5 Alevels, i just cant spell to save my life.
once again im sorry that post was meant for someone else

"The fans have spoken highly of the show this season, which is very encouraging to us, but the ratings don't reflect that, unfortunately"
That is true. The ratings don't reflect it yet but eventually they will crawl up slowly. It's a good sign when hardcore fans are more enthusiastic. It seems, popularity has to start from within and we have the opportunity to generate ripples throughout the scifi scene. Those who gave up on Star Trek might give it another chance when they hear us praise it.
People aren't easily perswayed by official channels. Promotion and advertising is just a sales-trick that doesn't really say anything about the product. But WE can make a difference. We can build up the appetite in our friends. If there was ever a need for us to work on that, it's now folks!
Want a fifth season? Many of us do. Let us appriciate that Star Trek is still in production - maybe just for another 2-3 months! Don't forget to tell your friends how cool ENT is, and that ENT will return on UPN next friday! Actually it runs every friday.
exactly some people are just ignorant listen to how cocky he is, he thinks he not only knows what goes on on the screen but also behind the screens, id love to see him do better. He critisizes berman and bragga but they have done so much good in the star trek franchise, some of the best episodes are braggas, (all good things anyone) i mean for god sake i hate people who are full of praise for something being right and then when something is wrong they forget the good. let me get this right you think trek ended with the end of TNG so basically you dont like DS9 either, or voyager or enterprise which means you dont like 3/5 of the franchise so you aint a fan anyway, you can call yourself a TOS fan, or even a TNG fan, but a star trek fan i think not, wouldnt that mean to be a trek fan in general you would have to like the majority of it. oh and let me get this straight, the last decent "TREK" episode was all good things if Generations was the end of trek, so by your account the last decent trek episode was written by bragga, your really inspiring my confidence. Oh and by the way you dont like ent, or voy so your not really in the position to slag off braggas work on those, because for the people who like VOY then it has to be said bragga wrote a lot of good episodes, futures end i think was one of his, why dont you go back to your dvds unless of course you refuse to buy them on principal of paramount getting money. and watch what you like, and let us fans of ent and voyager and the later films enjoy them without your inane predictions of doom. dont you feel old when you start turning into one of those "kirk was better than picard i wont watch that bald headed one cause its not real star trek" move with the times or dont but dont put down something us who do move with the times enjoy!!!! just dont bloody watch it, simple as!!!!!!!!

After reading your response 3 times in order to try and understand what the hell you were talking about. I think the next time you read anything by me. You should get a translater for yourself.
Quote:"exactly some people are just ignorant listen to how cocky he is, he thinks he not only knows what goes on on the screen but also behind the screens,
How am I ignorant? Do you even know what ignorant means? Did I say in my response that I was 100% sure? Did you miss the part where I repeatedly said "I think, I believe"? The only person here who is ignorant on anything is you! Especially when it comes to the "English language". Your spelling mistakes and lack of sentence structure are embarrassing. You make little to no point. You do not give a proper counter response to things that I have said. Your response is nothing more than the ramblings of someone who really has no clue what they are talking about.
Quote:"id love to see him do better. "
ANYONE could do better. ANYONE who can write (that excludes you due to your grade 2 reading and writing level) could do better! If you think that ENT has had any good episodes do me a favor and NAME THEM? I am willing to bet that any episode that the "fans" have liked were NOT written by B&B. Season 3 had almost nothing. Season 4 has had NOTHING. The first 2 seasons of ENT were so bad that it started out with 16 million viewers and then dropped to 3 million a week. A drop that forced them to change the whole premise of the show in order to avoid getting canceled. Since you think you are some kind of math major. That is a decrease of 13 million viewers in less than 2 seasons. A drop off somewhere of 80%!
I absolutely think that if a "fan" can remember all the continuity then the IDIOTS who have been with Trek for over 15 years SHOULD remember it too. Especially when Braga admits they have a staff that is supposedly keeping track. A staff of monkeys I believe!
Quote:"He critisizes berman and bragga but they have done so much good in the star trek franchise, some of the best episodes are braggas, (all good things anyone)
All Good Things sucked! There was talk that they wanted that instead of "Generations". If that was the movie. Trek would of dropped then! Comparing the good episode with the bad and you will see that the "BAD out weighs the few good they did". Berman is NO writer. Braga is a hack. The fact that Braga has done no writing for anything else is proof of that. What other writing jobs as he done? What else is on his resume? What is this good? Trek has been declining steadily in the last 10 years. Why? The people who run it don't care. They are incompetent!
Quote:" i mean for god sake i hate people who are full of praise for something being right and then when something is wrong they forget the good.
What good? Insurrection sucked! Nemesis was the worst Trek film to date. ENT has been a failure. VOY was junk. WHERE is this "great Trek"? What good has over shadowed the tremendous amount of bad?
Quote:" let me get this right you think trek ended with the end of TNG so basically you dont like DS9 either, or voyager or enterprise which means you dont like 3/5 of the franchise so you aint a fan anyway,
First off I never said Trek ended with TNG. I never said I didn't like DS9. Voy was pretty bad. ENT's first 3 seasons were shit. So I don't know where you are getting this from. My post was about the STXI and Bermans comments about it. Do NOT get off topic in order to avoid what I said about Berman and STXI. Also don't give me that crap about not being a fan. The logic of your argument is pathetic if not embarrassing.
Quote:"you can call yourself a TOS fan,
Yes
Quote:"or even a TNG fan,
Yes
Quote:"but a star trek fan i think not, wouldnt that mean to be a trek fan in general you would have to like the majority of it.
I like TOS, TNG and DS9. Since we are going to use your stupid math. That is 3/5's of Trek That IS a majority dumbass!
Quote:'oh and let me get this straight, the last decent "TREK" episode was all good things if Generations was the end of trek, so by your account the last decent trek episode was written by bragga, your really inspiring my confidence.
I have NO idea where you are getting this from. WHERE did I mention anything about Generations? Where did I mention anything about end of the Trek? Basically what the hell are you are talking about? Your english is horrible. You have no point. You are way off topic. You are not addressing anything that I said. When you can make a valid point on something that I said and not some "off topic" garbage. Come back and join in but until then go back to "hooked on phonics!"
And for the record, I thought "All Good Things" was very lame! The chicken and the egg....come on!
Quote:"Oh and by the way you dont like ent, or voy so your not really in the position to slag off braggas work on those, because for the people who like VOY then it has to be said bragga wrote a lot of good episodes, futures end i think was one of his,
Another "run on sentence". WHAT the hell are you talking about? You are making NO sense. First off if ENT was never made. VOY would be considered to be the least favorite by the fans! Braga wrote a lot of CRAP for Voy. Case in point "Threshold!" PURE STUPIDITY! It's an episode he, himself finds embarrassing!
Secondly as for "Futures End". More time line crap. The episode was NOT that great. The Seven sudden romance with Chakotay was DUMB! The doctor with his "undying love" for Seven was stupid. The ending was abrupt. (Picardo and Phillips were doing a "post VOY" episode at conventions because fans said it ended too quickly.) That stupid "Queen Bee" ummm I mean Borg. It was no better than "All Good Things".
Quote:"why dont you go back to your dvds unless of course you refuse to buy them on principal of paramount getting money.
I will do that once you graduate from a grade 8 spelling/writing level! My "principal" for NOT buying the box sets of each season is that they are too expensive. Why should I buy them when they are on TV all the time for free? The box sets were done on the cheap. Another Paramount ploy to milk the fans. If you want to see "real" season box sets. Go look at the "X-Files" ones. At least they put some effort into it!
Quote:"and watch what you like, and let us fans of ent and voyager and the later films enjoy them without your inane predictions of doom.
I will do that once you can tell me (and show me) the definition of what a "sentence" is. What did I predict? Did I say the world was coming to an end? Did I say the sky was falling? Suddenly you are going to tell me that just because you like 2/5's of Trek that you are in a position to tell others you are some "fan" over the rest of us? Get bent idiot!
Quote:"dont you feel old when you start turning into one of those "kirk was better than picard i wont watch that bald headed one cause its not real star trek" move with the times or dont but dont put down something us who do move with the times enjoy!!!! just dont bloody watch it, simple as!!!!!!!!
I have no idea what you are talking about here. If you are suggesting that I am "old" then you are sadly mistaken. I had no problem with TNG. I have no probably with Picard. At least Picard can act unlike Jolene who is an embarrassment to Trek. At least the Picard character was unique and not a rip off of TOS.
The next time you wish to discuss/debate anything with me little man. Put some f'ing effort into. These run on sentences and dancing all over the place is not only annoying to read but a personal embarrassment on your part.
For the last time! Enterprise is failing for a few simple reasons: The ship looks like a cheap rip-off, the premise behind the show sucks, and re-copied story lines such as the Borg being discovered in the Enterprise time line. People watch Star Trek to not only see good stories but also to see the special effects. They look forward to seeing something new and unseen. Not reliving the past. I'm sorry to say that this is Star Wars fault! The release of Phantom Menace put people into a nostalgic phase which they recovered from right after the movie. People still want to see Kirk beating the bad guys, unfortunately with DeForest Kelly's death that's not going to happen. In all honesty, as a fan I walked away from Star Trek when the Enterprise 1701-D was destroyed. Generations as a movie just sucked! it had two points, Destroy the ship and kill Kirk.
It seemed as if Mr. Berman was re-making the show in his own image, Re-witing history seems to be his main concern. Take Zefram Cochrane (James Cromwell) for example, In the original story line the character was a reclusive intellectual who had walked way from everything after inventing warp-drive. In First Contact he was a drunk hippie dreaming of money and women. Insurrection was a waste of time, film, and money. I watched tem minutes before throwing it out. And the last attempt at humor Nemesis, Data's death (Leaving a cheap way back into the show B-4), Janeway's cameo, the Starfleet's fleet that never made it to the screen, Worf's reappearance, Need I go on?
The worse part is when they made Sisko into Jesus. I thought that was way outta line! I would reallyu like to see a show that lives up to the premise, Voyager was suppose to be fighting for survival, and every week just the same thing. Them struggling with the distance. Been away from home, C'mon.
The simple truth is that Star Trek is a sinking ship that has gone under a decade ago, Let it hit the bottom and rest.
Quote:"Berman carefully admits the project's development has slowed."
Ok this really is a stupid thing to do. Why would you carefully not say the project is being put on the back burner? Bermans a good liar he could of made up some excuse about being distracted by ENT . Regardless of that. I think that since he was being careful that the project is being put under the microscope by the "new management" by Paramount. If we are lucky it might be a sign that Bermans days are slowly coming to an END!
Quote:""We are continuing to develop a project that is in the very early stages,"
He is lying! It has been the early stages for over 6 months now. They even listed the co-producers along with Berman. The fact remains is that the majority of the script is "done" and it is being "rejected" by the new magagement. This ongoing development is nothing more than a smoke screen for Berman to change this script (which no doubt sucks!) into something better (is that even possible?)
Quote:" "It is in a little less of an early stage than it was the last time we spoke,
Here is an example of a lie. The sentense before he calls the project "in very early stages". In the next sentence the project is now "little less of any early stage". So I would like to ask Rick:So what is it? Where do you stand with this potential third bomb Trek movie?
It is NO wonder with this type of "workmanship" why Trek has struggled with being shit these past few years. Again it is very clear "MANAGEMENT" needs to be changed!
Quote:"but it is still too early to discuss it.
It has been 2 years since Nemesis. It has been over 6 months since we last got wind of this "prequel" movie that NO ONE wants and will no doubt bomb! SO WHEN is it a good time to ask? 2006? 2007? He is lying and just stalling for time because his contract is coming up for renewal!
Quote:"I think there will be some discussion about it in the next couple of months.
ANOTHER lie, now we hear "there will be some discussion..in the next couple months". SO what is it? He needs to get his own "timeline" straightened out!
Quote:"There is movement."""
If we are lucky Berman and this stupid prequel script will find some movement by being flushed down a toilet!
Quote:"But whether that movement is forward or backwards Berman is silent on.
Well it is clear it is backwards because of his comments about "more time and more talks in the future". If we are lucky this whole project will get SCRAPPED!
Quote:"With the naming of new Paramount studio chief Brad Grey, the future of STAR TREK feature films may be unknown for at least the immediate future.
THERE is your answer right now!!!! Berman doesn't know what Brad wants with regards to Trek. With Sherry Berman knew "just put out crap because the suits want more hooker money."
Quote:"On the subject of ENTERPRISE, Berman admits ratings aren't as good as they'd hope for but that the show is holding its own on Friday nights.
TWO THINGS HERE....1) Trek has shown that it can survive without the idiots of Trek (B&B) and 2) Season 5 is in the bag!
Quote:"The fans have spoken highly of the show this season, which is very encouraging to us, but the ratings don't reflect that, unfortunately," he says.
Since when does this jerk listen to fans? You have his girlfriend calling fans who see and make comments about obvious continuity errors "continuity pornographers". So this business of listening to fans is 100% bullshit! Any and all encouragement should be directed at Coto for "cleaning up the mess" that Berman and Braga left behind!
Quote:" "As to whether UPN is going to be interested in doing the fifth season--that is something we will find out about in the spring (note that this interview was conducted just before the 2004 December holidays).
There will be Season 5!
Quote:"Berman says, however, that he believes a decision on the show's future may be known in time to plan the final episodes of the season.
No kidding, they would need to make a series finale.
Quote:"On the writing front, Berman is quick dispell rumors that he or partner Brannon Braga are taking any less of an active role in the show this season, despite the promotion of Manny Coto to showrunner and executive producer.
He comes some more smoke to blow up the fans ass's!
Quote:"The fact that Manny has taken a stronger role in the writing has not affected, in any way, my participation in the stories and editing and production," he says.
This is a lie because Coto is now in charge of the "writers room". He is now in charge of "WHAT" is going to be happening storyline. In that one interview Coto says Berman told him to "Do whatever you want". The logic on this is very simple. For S4 there has been NO B&B scripted episodes. Since B&B have done nothing storywise (lets face it their ego would NOT allow someone else to take their work without credit!!!) they are doing NOTHING! HOW could B&B sit back and help "craft" the Vulcan arc knowing that the arc was to help FIX their mess? His idea of "production" is this "Manny write script that helps fix all the crap we did"! OH YEAH a lot of hard work there Rick!
Quote:"Brannon is also still actively involved in the series.
HOW?!?! BY getting Coto coffee? He is not listed on any script!
Quote:"It always amuses me when I read about people's perception about all of this.
LIE! It should be "it frightens me when I read about people perception about all of this because that means we are OUT!" His ego is still blinding him!
Quote:"The fact that Manny has taken more of a responsible role in the story development area doesn't mean what most people think it means.
Coto's title is called "executive producer" along with Berman. Cotos is in charge of the writers room A job that Braga USED to have. There has not been one script by B&B this year. Cotos name is all over the place when it comes to the scripts not B&B. So would someone please tell me HOW the fans preception of Coto doing all the work is wrong? Berman is living in denial about the fact that fans have embraced Coto and have all but spit on Berman.
Quote:"This is still a very collaborative effort, and Brannon's and my involvement is still extremely strong. It always has been.
LIE! If they were doing something they would of told you what it was. This was a perfect time to tell everyone what exactly these two are doing. The answer is very simple. Nothing!
Quote:" It's not a question of one person's vision versus another's. It is a group effort, and it always has been a group effort."
LIE! I didn't see Berman and Braga ever talking to other people about Trek. That is why they did most of the writting for S1 and S2 which SUCKED! (ie Stigma, A Night In Sickbay) Where was this "team player attitude" then? Only after the studio gave Berman a little talk did you see something new (Coto).
Quote:"Berman also hints at upcoming changes for Dominic Keating's character 'Malcolm Reed' in the full interview.
I am not going to read any more of this crap. So I am going to assume that the character change is "giving him more lines"? Poor Hoshi!
Quote:"This issue of the magazine also features interviews with Brent Spiner and remarks by writer/producer Mike Sussman.
The only comments I want to hear about Mike is about his views on him being "FIRED" from Trek.

A translation to Berman's quotes : "Paramount isn't all very pleased."
Given the state of the studio's fortunes and the change in leadership, the most likely option is: no STAR TREK movie at all for quite a while, I think.

OUCH! Scorned, that was mighty harsh. And in the words of Picard, "nicely done!" I would agree that Berman is generalizing, talking much and saying little. He is hiding from the truth.
I wonder how often Berman and Braga attend the Conventions, and if they do whether or not they even speak at them?
-
Quote:" OUCH! Scorned, that was mighty harsh. "
That was far from being harsh. How can anyone think what Berman said about "being in early development" was real? I am sick of this mother f'ing liar with all his crap! It was time for this joker to hit the road over 5 years ago!
Quote:"And in the words of Picard, "nicely done!"
Thanks....
Quote:"I would agree that Berman is generalizing, talking much and saying little. He is hiding from the truth."
The truth is that he doesn't know who the new boss is. Where he stands on Trek? etc. I think he is just avoiding the fact that once something was great and falls (ie a sports team) it usually gets fixed by "cleaning house" (ie Coto) How could someone who is supposedly "in charge" of Trek be so in the dark? He is either very stupid or very incompetent! I personally thinking both.
Quote:"I wonder how often Berman and Braga attend the Conventions, and if they do whether or not they even speak at them?
Who would honestly go see these two jerks? If I went to a Trek convention it surely is not to hear anything these two jack offs have to say. I would of loved to have met Gene Roddenberry though.
I would love to see these two morons at a "big convention" doing Q&A by "die hards" AND they have to answer all the questions! They will look like fools
actually im training to be a nurse so im not supposed to be aggressive lol but when people wish someone dead for doing a job it annoys the hell out of me, i said in another post id challenge anyone to write a decent prequel scrip in 3 weeks, bout the time it takes on the show. and it has to deal with prequel ideas or the fans will get pissed off because it will be just like season 1, you have to not breech continuity once, not at all and not from any part of the 40 year history of star trek, it has to be good, have a meaning, flesh out the charecters, appeal to trekkies, and the general public, it has to please fans of DS9, TNG, and TOS who could be said to be 4 different audience groups. and and you have to do all this in a 40 minute episode. who could do it?
-
Good post. As far as writing a script, most people can't write one and most don't understand just how much work goes into creating a weekly series and how many cooks ultimately stir the pot. With a syndicated series you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want. For broadcast (and to a lesser extent cable) the network execs all have something to say about the direction of a show. Yes, Enterprise had it's fair share of problems creatively the first couple of years but Paramount always had it within their power to remove anyone associated with the show. They never did.
Producing Star Trek is now a thankless job, especialy when you have to deal with a fan base that consists of schmucks who feel death is something you deserve.
Is death what you want? Just turn on your TV, and instead of watching Star Trek, just watch the news on the Tsunami disaster. 140,000 plus human beings are dead. Perhaps this will satisfy your need for death in this world.
To the moderator of this website, get this idiot off here. Or start MODERATING the content that goes on this board. Nobody needs to see this ignorant, adolescent attitude.

It has always amused me as well. In fact it's done more - it's bothered me quite a bit. Manny Coto has written a few good episodes but he is not nor ever will be the saviour of ENT or Star Trek in general. Trek is bigger than one or two people.
People seem to think that season 4 has changed radically from what has come before and with the Vulcan arc ENT has been saved. And Manny did it. Crap.
A big part of the premise of ENT was that the relationship between Vulcan and Earth was different in this time than the time from TOS, and especially onwards. This prequel has set it up that humans weren't quite the 'evolved' specimens from Picards time and it has also set up that Vulcans weren't all they could be. This to me was obvious. In the pilot episode they had Archer stare into the camera no less and say something along the lines of 'forget your preconceptions' as if he were saying it directly to the audience. I don't know how more obvious this can be.
Some people thought that the Vulcans were different in this series because of B&B's misunderstanding of Vulcans. This is crap as well.
Tuvok was almost always a paragon of Vulcan logic and there is no doubt that B&B had some influence in maintaining that. They know their Vulcans only too well, like many in the audience should, and were trying to explore Vulcans in a differnet context. After seeing Spock and Tuvok for all this time I was receptive to this idea as well. I don't know why more weren't.
It's all very simple. At the start the Vulcans weren't helping Earth in the way Earth wanted to be helped. They were found out to be spying on the Andorians. Mind melding was taboo. The list goes on. These things were all set up so that a story could be done to explain it and to say that with work the Vulcans could in time become the Vulcans that we are all familiar with. We know when that time comes. Manny did not come along and say 'Oop. You guys have kinda fucked the Vulcans. I better fix it'.

Good theory, but basically they're still going nowhere. They set up the Vulcans as bad guys to create an "arc" ( the most overused word in TV) for them which if it's completed merely reestablishes the status quo. Also, should Voyager be accepted as any coda for Vulcans?
-
PostDoc said:

Isn't that part of what a prequel is about? Without obstacles can the Vulcans remain interesting? Dunno about you but I'd prefer kineticicity over static. (I think I just made up a word there)
PostDoc also said:

So now it must degenerate into and argument between who's the better Vulcan? ; ) If it must. Tuvok. He ain't no half cast after all.

here here, ive met tim russ and he is a huge trek fan, he played the vulcans as they should be, you cant take spock as a typical vulcan because he wasnt, didnt spock take part in the deception is ST6. didnt he say if he was human he would say go to hell. Spock wasnt the most vulcan vulcan, tuvok was, besides voyager was a great series, its flaw was not living upto DS9 and its own premise of being lost in space, but once you look at the series on an episode basis it was like TNG2, and if TNG had told the kinda episodes voyager did they would have been hits, year of hell, the killing game etc are some of star treks best hours!!!!

At last, I see someone making sense.
I always thought that picturing the Vulcans differently from what we used to know was an unexpected, interesting and bold move, and certainly not an attemp to "kill Trek"...

I agree with you again. I don't see how the dialogues and the characters in season 4 have changed so radically from the previous seasons. If those same episodes had been written by B & B, the intolerant Trek fanatics would have bashed them as usual.
Not only I don't see an improvement, by I even think it's getting worse. Storm Front I & II are among the worst Trek episodes ever, and I found The Augments trilogy to be anything but great. It could have been a nice single episode, by stretching it to 3 parts ruined it.
Your post is a sight for sore eyes, Timclim. Thanks !

people like you make me ashamed to be a trek fan, you wish he would die, what kind of real human being would wish that in a world where everyone is trying to pull together to help thos in india, you are a discrace. I feel sorry for berman, obviously he is reading what people are saying about him because he reads it, so he comes on here to see what people think of ideas and the series and sees people wishing him dead, he does a bleeding job, he is a human being (more than you) and he has run the star trek franchise for years, no one complained about DS9 and berman had a hand in that, has no one ever had an idea that turned out not as good as expected, maybe berman wishes he'd done voyager differently, but he was probably under pressure from the studi, DS9 wasnt highly rated, the fans loved it but the general public didnt, the first two seasons of voyager had a lot of conflict but what if it was paramount that told them to go the route of TNG not DS9. voyager had better ratings than DS9 cause the general public prefered it, but the fans did't, so with enterprise i think they have tried to combine the two and i love it, but who do you try and please the fans or the public, i think berman is doing a dam good job, and id love to see you do better, do you think its as easy as you make out, i dont imagine him just sitting in meetings, i imagine him juggling with trying to keep the actors fans and studio, and the public happy, and he was producing etc for the first 3 seasons, so what he took a step back who could blame him. Lay off the guy because for all the bad you credit him with he has done twice as much good, when you watch interviews with him he is a genuinly nice guy, patrick stewart thinks highly of him, manny coto does as far as saying he wishes the fans would lay off rick. Berman could ram the series into the ground and see that another episode never gets made and i still wouldnt wish him dead, i could be tempted to hope it happens to you but not berman cause he aint evil like you, he is just doing a job!!!!
-
Amen! I get sick everytime I listen to people bash B&B as the anti-christs of StarTrek. Berman has been stuck with the job of being the frontman for a series that has a petty and spiteful fanbase. Now let me stress that I by no means think that Berman has done a perfect job running these series but you know what, a lot of that had to do with the studios. Berman is big enough not to blame them but you know for damn sure that the greedy SOBs at Paramount have forced him to make changes to the series that he didn't want.
And don't even get me started on Braga. People tear that man apart and lets see all of the good epiosodes that he has written over the years.
TNG - (episode 7.25/26 "All Good Things ...") (episode 5.18 "Cause and Effect") (episode 6.02 "Realm of Fear") (episode 6.16 "Birthright: Part 1") (episode 6.21 "Frame of Mind") (episode 4.07 "Reunion") (episode 6.13 "Aquiel") (episode 7.18 "Eye of the Beholder")
Voyager - (episode 3.06 "Remember") (episode 3.18 "Darkling") (episode 5.26 "Equinox: Part 1") (story) (episode 6.01 "Equinox: Part 2") (episode 7.25/26 "Endgame") (episode 4.08 "Year of Hell: Part 1") (writer) (episode 4.09 "Year of Hell: Part 2")
THose are just to name some of his good Voyager episodes. Infact I'd say that most of the great episodes of Voyager he had a hand in writing. Now we have what he has written for Enterprise.
Enterprise - (episode 1.07 "Andorian Incident, The") (episode 1.14 "Shadows of P'Jem") (episode 1.23 "Fallen Hero") (episode 2.02 "Carbon Creek") (episode 3.18 "Azati Prime") (episode 1.01/02 "Broken Bow") (writer) (episode 1.03 "Fight or Flight") (episode 1.16 "Shuttlepod One") (episode 2.22 "Cogenitor") (episode 3.24 "Zero Hour")
Now he has also had his hand in some really bad episodes of Trek but the man has written so much for three different series over the years that he was bound to have his misteps and to tell the truth there have only been about ten really horrible episodes on his resume with the rest being mediocore but still enjoyable.
Now these two are not the anti-christ and they are far from the destroyers of Star Trek. They have made mistakes and I'm sure that you holier than thou fans would have made mistakes too in their positions! it just annoys the living hell out of me that you people think that you could do any better. \
Now don't get me wrong because I think there is room to improve on Enterprise but I am sick an tired of this constant whining about people who have one of the hardest jobs in the world, trying to please a bunch of spoiled, selfish, egotistical, arrogant, selfrightous fans of a fricken TV SERIES that the have turned into religion!
