Nov 23 | Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. STAR TREK VOYAGER's Robert Duncan McNeill serves Chuck as a supervising producer and director.

Nov 17 | Originally hired as co-executive producer to help with the second half of the show's first season, Kevin Murphy has now taken the reins of Caprica, the Battlestar Galactica prequel on Syfy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He now serves as an executive producer along with Ronald D. Moore, David Eick and Jane Espenson and oversees the day-to-day functions of the show.

Nov 12 | Star Trek star Zachary Quinto is loosely attached to star in the romantic dramedy Whirligig, reports Risky Business.Quinto would play the lead role in the independent Canadian film, which is aiming to shoot early next year. The movie centers on a man who, in a misguided attempt to woo an older woman, befriends the woman's adopted son.Chaz Thorne is directing the pic, based on a screenplay by Michael Amo, creator of the Canadian supernatural series "The Listener."

Nov 11 | The CNS Foundation, is hosting an on-line charity auction at www.charitybuzz.com.   One of the items they are auctioning is a signed movie poster of the new Star Trek movie which has all the cast members and writers.  The president of our organization is Carol Abrams, JJ's mother,  and she arranged for the donation from Bad Robot Production Company.  J.J. Abrams is also a major donor to their organization. The funds raised will go to help find a cure to neurological disorders in children.  The auction link is here.

Nov 10 | Candice Bergen, Charles Lisanby, Don Pardo, Gene Roddenberry, Tom and Dick Smothers and Bob Stewart have been selected as the next inductees into the Television Academy's Hall of Fame. They will be honored at a Jan. 20 ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. "This year's inductees have challenged and shaped popular culture, changed television for the better and entertained us royally while doing so," TV Academy Chairman-CEO John Shaffner said. William Shatner continues his foray into multiple media this fall when he will not just appear on ABC's new BOSTON LEGAL, but croon on a new CD produced by Ben Folds entitled HAS BEEN. The record contains songs written by the actor and performed by him and several guest vocalists. The new web site ShatnerHasBeen.com has launched, providing audio clips from the CD and audio interview bits with Shatner about each song.

HAS BEEN includes guest appearances by a range of artists such as Adrian Belew, Joe Jackson, Lemon Jelly, Aimee Mann, Brad Paisley, Henry Rollins, as well as Folds. Shatner's riffs -- something like a dramatic (or comedic?) reading -- are mixed with the singers' performances to create an interesting musical experience.

Shatner describes the creative process in one of the clips:

"I didn't want to be conventionally hidebound," he says. "I didn't want to go to Frank Sinatra, as much as I admire him. I wanted to go somewhere that was us -- Ben and me -- as Ben did. Now, Ben is the epitome of going somewhere else. But I didn't know that. When he said 'look, you write the material and let me fashion the song, that's my job, you write what you want to say, let me make the song'... what an open door that is, and that's what happened."

HAS BEEN includes a range of topics for Shatner, who writes about his relationship with his daughters in "That's Me Trying," talks of his wife in "Together," and his own press in "Has Been." He says the term shouldn't be used pejoratively, and the song pokes fun at the stabs he's often taken.

"I was reading a tabloid on the way to Nashville and I'm reading something that someone said about me the 'has been'," he explains. "I thought, what a weird term to apply to anybody, but especially to me because I don't feel like a 'has been'. I thought, these people who write things like that don't have any idea--'has been' should really be a term that's salutory. 'Hey, he has been... something. He has been a great chef, he has been a great driver, he has been a great father'. Now, the child's gone, the restaurant burned down, the horse has died, you know, so 'he has been a great rider, but no longer because he doesn't have the horse, but he has been'. So when I said that 'has been' is history, 'has been' was... and 'has been' might again."

Recently, a prominent zoologist conducted an experiment where he placed 20 monkeys in a room with 20 word processors to see if anything profound would result. After considerable time, all he got was screens full of the letter "e" & monkey feces on the keyboard. Kind of like my last job.

    I knew Ben Folds was a Shatner nut...but Aimee Mann? I'm a major fan of her work (especially her "Magnolia" album).

    This might prove interesting.

Y'know, I was thinkin'...with the recent despicable voiding of the same-sex marriages by the Calif. Supreme Court, does this mean that Rosie O'Donnell is single & back on the streets again? Better hide the ham!!

Can we blame Jeri Ryan for Alan Keyes?

I wish I knew what sex club Jack & Jeri used to go to...

      I agree this isn't the place, but I have to say, those of you who are so closed minded to anything different, why are you here? Why are you Star Trek fans? The neat special effects maybe? Or are you all Neo-Romulans who are quick to condemn anything that you don't agree with? I guess that's what this Empire we now have in power is about.

    Just needed to get that out, huh? WHY HERE? Go over to the Newsmax or Fox News web sites. Sure, they're humorless and uptight but they're topical and would love to respond to anyone who makes a post that falls outside of their defintiion of what should be considered the norm.

    What does this have to do with this post about Shatner?
    The Supreme Court held up the law. You can't bend the rules for a few.
