Con Report: Brent Spiner Will Guest in Three Episodes of ENT S4; Plus Braga Not Stepping Back

By Steve Krutzler / 12:46, 11 July 2004 / Enterprise

According to an attendee at yesterday's Sci-Fi Expo in Dallas, TX, guest Marina Sirtis has spilled the beans about a high-profile STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE guest star.

According to the report, sent in to TrekToday, Sirtis indicated that ST:TNG cohort Brent Spiner will guest star in three episodes of ENTERPRISE this season. Spiner's co-star told fans at the gathering that he would be playing the grandfather of his famous character Data's creator: Doctor Noonien Soong. Spiner previously played Soong himself in TNG's "Brothers" and other episodes.

The actress says Spiner's stint will begin production next month. This is the first of what could be many familiar faces on the series this season, as producer Rick Berman hinted at many such scenarios in a recent interview (story).

This information has yet to be confirmed or announced by Paramount. For the original report check out this page.

In related news, more quotes from Berman's latest STAR TREK Communicator interview have surfaced, this time the exec refutes previous reports from cast member Dominic Keating and others that co-executive producer Brannon Braga would be "stepping back" for the upcoming season. Berman's response? "I think to say he 'might be stepping back' would not really be true. Brannon isn't going anywhere."

Nov 23Chuck returns to NBC with a special two-hour show on Sunday, Jan 10, 2010, before returning to its regular time slot, Mondays at 8pm on the following night. It's return to prime time television can be attributed to a successful fan renewnal campaign last year. CHUCK is a one-hour, action-comedy series that follows Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi, "Less Than Perfect") -- a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. This upcoming season will include some special guest stars, including Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns" who will play CIA agent Daniel Shaw in an episode, and the addition of SUBWAY restaurant as a major advertiser to the show. Chuck averaged a 4.0/6 rating last season, about eight percent better than the recently cancelled "Trauma". Ratings-challenged Heroes moves back an hour when Chuck returns on Monday nights. You people have become such self parody

Because we dont like what Trek has turned into we are a parody. I would think the fans who like anything that's Sci Fi regardless of it's quality would be a parody (ie: The last two Star Wars movies and Enterprise) would be more of a parody.
If you have been a fan of the franchise for over 30 years like myself it is easy to see that the recent people in charge of Trek have made the latest series and movies a parody of itself.
People dont just bash Enterprise because it's a hobby, they bash it because it's not good anymore. I dont wake up and say, better get to that Trek board to Bash it, I read what is on the site and react accordingly. Bring Brent on as a way to get back viewers that they scared off in the first place with their poor writing and body rubs.
Dont blame the dissapointed fan, blame the creators who let this show pass as a good Trek show.
