USA Today has published the results of its recent "Save Our Show" poll, which asks readers to vote on whether twelve shows the paper considers "on the bubble" between renewal and cancellation should make the cut for next season.

This year the poll attracted 43,000 votes, according to the paper, with 70% of them going to STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE. USA Today notes that this is partially reflective of a "coordinated effort," which included spreading the word about the poll throughout online STAR TREK fandom. Groups like
The ENTERPRISE Project has been rallying fan support to save the fifth STAR TREK series for months.

Coming in second with 36.5% was Fox's offbeat and critically-acclaimed comedy ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, followed by TRU CALLING with 28%. Only these three plus CBS's THE DISTRICT won more votes to renew than to dismiss, and the majority of voters were ambivalent about the other nine shows in the survey.

"The survey results rarely determine the fate of the shows, though they do indicate pockets of loyal support," writes the paper. "Far more important are Nielsen ratings and creative, scheduling or financial concerns.

The WB's recently-cancelled ANGEL received support, as well as Bryan Fuller (writer, ST:VOY)'s WONDERFALLS. For the original article, visit this page.

-"Enterprise deserves to be saved no matter how bad it is. Simply because it's Star Trek, and Star Trek needs to continue as it symbolise the best in mankind. The show cannot improve if it gets cancelled."

wow. Dude, if that whole pargraph was not meant tounge in cheek, then...... wow. I think my point was just proved. Tell me you weren't serious. I beg you.

Oh come on. That's like saying you are going to keep a boyfriend because he has a Big you know what but doesnt have any brains to match. Puh-leezeeee! Keeping something on just "Because" is not only lame but lazy on the fans part and the networks fault. Thats what Paramount has counted on for years and I would be behind this show if it were up to the quality of say, DS9 or other shows like B5 but it is not that good and if you cant find something else out there more worth your time even it the show is chugging along like this one, you really think about how your life is going.
I have to say, if I were UPN/CBS, I'd be ignoring the poll in USA today. Enterprise has a disproporitionately tech-savvy and organized fan base, the type which is almost guaranteed to skew this sort of poll (which isn't worth much anyway) so I wouldnt exactly say this poll is sceientific.
Enterprise still hasn't really found it's footing. I don't really see much change in the characters, just same characters, new situations.
I keep reading it's better than Voyager or it's better than last season but If a show can only survive on lowered expectations, it deserves to die.

If decon bays scenes symbolize the best of humanity, then the crappy stories that are in the USA Today rank higher than Enterprise's ratings. That story said nothing about why any of the shows were on the chopping block! How typical.

Oh, and Whoopi Goldberg's show ranked dead last.
