STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE actor Scott Bakula stopped by the WAYNE BRADY SHOW on Wednesday, February 19th to promote this week's episode, "Doctor's Orders." In addition to discussing the episode, Bakula talked about the franchise in general and his QUANTUM LEAP career.

"A couple, but, basically, that's not true," Bakula said when Wayne asked if he is buddies with the other STAR TREK captains, according to a transcript provided by TrekWeb reader 'TRexx'. "That's not true. Actually, life has become kind of a 'Six Degrees of William Shatner' kind of thing; because, all of a sudden, everybody knows William Shatner now, except me... It's like, 'I saw Bill Shatner, he was driving in his car with his dog, yesterday, next to me.' 'Really? Yeah, I had Superbowl Sunday over at Bill Shatner's.'"

Bakula says he knows more of the NEXT GENERATION cast, since they are around the set more often. He says his own son has gotten hooked on TNG.

"And now I find out from my 8-year-old son... I came home the other night, and he says, you know, 'Dad, dad, I saw the old STAR TREK on TV. A rerun. I loved it'. I said, 'Really?' He said, 'Yeah, could you get me some copies of it?' I said, 'The original 'STAR TREK?' He said, 'No, no, the one with... they got the little thing on their shirt, like that.'"

"'And LeVar's on it. That's my favorite STAR TREK'. I said, 'Oh, thanks, Will'. So, of course, I go -- LeVar's directing -- and I go and tell him; and he's like, 'I love that boy, Will. Where's that boy Will? I love that kid.'"

When Wayne gave the audience a run-down of the current Xindi story arc, the actor joked about UPN's own lack of promotion for the series. "I really know a little too much, don't I?" Brady joked.

"No, no. I'm like, 'Man, this is more free ad time, which is more than we get on UPN!' So, this is good," Bakula responded.

Brady asked about the prospects of a QUANTUM LEAP feature film.

"The last time Don went and talked to Universal -- I'm just going to slam everybody today, since I'm sitting here -- the wizards at Universal marketing said that QUANTUM LEAP was not a marketable name... So. You know. You can't fight that. Because, obviously, they 'know.'"

When asked where he would "quantum leap" back in time to if given the possibility, Bakula said, "September 10th."

Well... considering that Jeffrey Combs played both Weyoun and Shran (and other characters in both DS9 and ENT and one character in VOY), some DS9 references should have surfaced somewhere - if anything, from Combs. Oh well...

--------

"I think the show talked to people through the characters. They're stories that speak to the heart. They talk about love, they talk about friendship, they talk about loyalty, they talk about patriotism, exploration, curiosity, reaching out... And I think all those things still touch people. Even when you look at a 30-year old show, it still has something to say." - D.C. Fontana, Sci Fi Channel Special Edition TOS 1998
----
"If the season finale involves the re-built USS Reliant coming back in time to the 21st Century crewed by Moogie, Dr. Selar, Morn, Transporter Chief Kyle, and the Salt Vampire, then we'll know that Coto has gone too far." - tomba1701
