The Temporal Cold War and The Delphic Expanse | Report this post to moderator

I think I'm seeing where they're thinking of taking things on ENTERPRISE.

During the first two years aboard the NX-01, we saw the crew go where no human has gone before, it was strange and all, but this wasn't the Star Trek universe that we all knew. The Temporal Cold War has been a factor from the beginning. The show moved forward at a steady but unsatisfying pace, getting progressively better and more interesting as time moved forward.

Now, the Enterprise is heading into The Delphic Expanse (first seen on the TOS episode called The Tholian Web), a region of space that does not conform to physics as we know it to chase after the Xindi who have launched a direct attack on Earth.

Now, since the Delphic Expanse doesn't conform to the laws of physics, or astrophysics as we know them, I deduce that after the Enterprise emerges from the Delphic Expanse after vanquishing the Xindi, they will find that Future Guy (A.G. Robinson?) will have made temporal inroads, and everything that the Enterprise and it's crew knew as familiar has changed dramatically. That is to say, the effects of a temporal change won't effect the crew or the ship. In fact, they may be operating without the benefit of a Starfleet Command back on Earth, at least not yet.

It's not exactly a reset button in the old sense of the idea of a reset button, but rather a decent way of getting from here to there in the context of the basic story of ENTERPRISE and keeping the canon intact. At worst, it's damage control, but it's the best possible option for damage control, and I for one am okay with this solution.

I think this show is going to be okay after all.
