What Enterprise lacks? | Report this post to moderator

I think one of the main negative elements on Enterprise is the ship’s design which lacks comfort. On the old Enterprise NCC-1701 from TOS we had the feeling of comfort because they did all that could be done in those days and that budget. The quarters were not all that spacious but nonetheless we felt fine in them. They had light (perhaps a hidden Roddenberry's message) On Enterprise 1701A-C the rooms were all brilliantly designed and the atmosphere was just great. The Enterprise 1701D was a pleasure cruiser, every man’s dream; it looked like the most expensive hotel there is, and so did Voyager. DS9 was a Cardassian design and the mood was a bit gloomier but nonetheless it was a welcome environment. The Enterprise NX-01 looks like a nuclear submarine. It’s a cold and inhospitable environment. The engineering looks like a boiler room; the bridge looks like an old rocket launch command center, the cabins are small, tight and look very uncomfortable; only sickbay has the Star Trek touch in it. I think that a part of Gene’s idea was a group of people in a hospitable environment traveling in an inhospitable environment and it is a major element in all Trek. It surprises me that in 150 years the NX-01 is the best they could come up with; or was it just Braga’s inspirational flash that created this ship;---- Braga: Oh, I thought it would be cool if it had an ancient submarine look, you know what I mean? Perhaps I’m wrong but I think that humanity could have done a far better job in designing the first star ship to venture where no man has gone before.
