It wasnt to just show a damn bunch of incredible jaw dropping battles in 3 films, it was to finally put an end to the current Star Trek timeline and stale originality so that a new generation of Trek in say 7-10 years can come along and begin anew say 250 years after the events that would happen in such an epic trilogy. JUST TO PROVIDE A CLEAN SLATE TO BEIGN WITH. Also having previously established villians used rather than made up ones like mini-Picard in Nemesis gives Trek fans a sense of "Ohhh.. Ok, thats cool since we know why he/she/them is doing that." Also the other ideas that would be implemented in such a film trilogy would help in appealing to Trek fans as a "SMART" film are as followed:

1. The Dominion would have no choice but to join up with the Federation/Alpha Quadrant as they would be hunted like so many solids by the Borg. That would lead to some ironic moments to address like with mabe Garak telling the female shapeshifter "Looks like your control of the solids doesnt include the Borg". In it the founders would realize that they cant control everything and for their first time in centuries, they must contemplate their own possible destruction.

2. When the Borg board starfleet ships, we could see on the Titan, Riker who instead of sending in security teams, activates the corridors to blow out hatches to suck them out or better yet, it cant work since the Borg are assimilating the Titan so Riker instead launches photon torpedoes at his own ship towards the sections the Borg are in, thus removing the problem...something we have never seen in Trek before.

3. Using the dang Dysons Sphere for use after all these years. Say at the very end of the second film, the Enterprise is destroyed, and the Defiant is locked in battle when all of a sudden the Borg disengage and flee. Then as the movie is about to end.. We see the DS9/Defiant crew exploding with joy as the camera pans around to the viewscreen to show this massive 8,000 starfleet ship armada approaching (it would dwarf by leaps the scene in "Call to Arms"). In the third film, its learned that over the past 15 years, starfleet has been secretly building a massive battle fleet in the Dysons Sphere (which has a $**tload of metallic resources) in preparation for a Borg/Dominion attack or by some other unknown nemesis. And as the Dysons fleet meets up with whats left of the battle-weary fleet, they announce a discovery that was unearthed while in the Dysons sphere that connects it to the Borg.

4. When one on one battles occur in the ships, instead of the usual fire at the enemy and then wait for them to fire their phaser, a new director could have it where the dang starfleet troops just hold the damn button down and fire nonstop at the Borg advancing towards them. And if the Borg move behind an object or wall, the troops just fire at the object/wall until its obliterated revealing the Borg on the other side and blast it to smithereens. This too has never been done. Thats why trek movies and episodes are so boring..its all re-hashed garbage over and over.

5. Having the space dock collapsing and entering the Earth's atmosphere would be a major special effects challenge and original thing for Trek, but also provides a sense of realism that the enemy in this set of events is dead serious at destroying Earth and the heart of the Federation. As with destroying Earth, Im sick of the "Oh no.. we gotta go since so and so wants to blow up Earth". ENOUGH ALREADY! Its old and lame. Let a nemesis go towards Earth and actually succeed in destroying Earth, thus ripping the heart away from the Federation and humans and truly giving them a reason for pure vengeance and forcing them into a true unknown. No more of this play it safe garbage.

6. At the end of the second film, the Enterprise is destroyed and Riker has now 2 reasons to go after the Borg (along with Earth's fate). See...it gives him a purpose for revenge, and not some lacking feeling of "why should he care?" That too lacked in Nemesis with Shinzon. Thats why it seemed so damn hokey and why the movie tanked.

7. Using the shuttlecrafts as large weapons. When say the Enterprise is disabled and no weapons are on-line, Picard just gets security to beam a ton of warheads into a shuttle craft and fly it with its shields up into a Borg vessel, doing lots more damage than any torpedoes...Also something never done in trek before.

8. Instead of having the usual thin looking phasers firing from ships like the Enterprise, the phasers would be upgraded to where the entire phaser array emits a massive burst and not some shoddy thin beam as done in all other trek episodes/movies. And those tri-cobalt devices used in Voyager would reappear as a devastating weapon for starfleet ships.

Its things like that, which need to be addressed. And having Trek go truly epic and NOT DISAPPOINTING (something Ill never forgive Frakes for with Craparrection), would give it the huge boost its needs since TNG went off the air. Basically, it comes down to this: do what no other scifi has dared to do..take huge risks. And use DS9 episodes "The Sacrifice of Angels, The Changing Face of Evil, and Call to Arms" as blueprints of how to write scripts the right way with dark undertones. And another thing.. Dump Jerry Goldsmith and get a young composer will balls and get Verman and Barfa the he** away from Trek forever.
