The Future according to Star Trek, it's communism ain't it? | Report this post to moderator

There is this TNG episode where they put some 21st century fellows outta stasis and told them stories about how the future would be like.
As far as I remember Picard said something about there is no money and everybody can work (or not work) what he wanted to do. And then there was this episode with Mark Twain where Troi said something about there ain't any poors and so and everybody would live happily ever after.

So they don't have dividing social classes, which I think was something what Marx was buffling about. Also they had no money, but get everything they'd like. So well, you could say it's communism, can't you?

So anybody knows wether or not Rodenberry was a communist or just blowing smoke when he made the happy future picture?
