Settle the suit
By who1

Despite its claims, Viacom would be better suited paying off Activision with a few million rather than spending $50-$70 million on another Trek film which could easily lose the company much more. They can say whatever they like, but the reality is, 'Nemesis' at the very most, breaks even or very slightly profits only after all international B.O.,merchandising, TV, DVD and cable sales, but it did a lot of damage in terms of the media adding to the perception of Trek being run dry - another film would be met with the heaviest skepticism for all corners imaginable. Viacom certainly wouldn't spend all that money just to prove Activision wrong either, especially as the costs for making sci-fi movies keeps rising. And the damage of settling and thus admitting defeat and validating that Trek is not what it once was - that's hardly news to anyone who can do basic arthmatic. The film franchise will be on ice for many, many years, unfortunately.
