TNG & Q, for God's sake
By El4short

I think Dorn's right on the money (though I'm biased, 'cause Worf's my favorite Trek character after Spock). Which Trek show consistently had the most viewers by far? It's TNG. That's the best bet for a movie that needs to get the B.O. back on track.

I liked Nemesis, but I agree that the villian and his motivations were hard to understand, and most of the TNG characters were flat-out ignored! So why don't we go back to a signature element of TNG ... Q!! Besides the Borg, he was that show's single most memorable creation. Plus, he's not just a one-note bad guy, which we need less of in Trek movies anyway. (why does Berman & co. always think we need a new Khan, anyway?)

Q would be an opportunity for a unique movie -- using most or all of the regulars -- that evokes the spirit of TNG which made it so popular. It can be funny, surprising, and explore new ground. It can be more uplifting than the bummer ending of Nemesis. (I really did like it, but I wish B-4 had kicked the bucket instead of Data). And since I agree that DS9 was an equally cool show (if not better), it could include elements from that show too.

If you make a great TNG movie, people will come back and try it again. For instance, ST5 didn't do as well, but ST6 kicked the box office back up. Just show people they're gonna have a fun time, and not just see a cookie-cutter action movie stamped "Trek," & they will come. (And do some creative marketing this time, Paramount!) Keep Stuart Baird and his editing meat-cleaver away too....

Go Worf!

Elrond L.
