Never cared for her character
By TonyDP

I always got the impression that Berman wanted a female captain because it was something that hadn't been done before in Trek, rather than because there was some dramatic force behind the decision. It was like he was checking off a list: "we had a black commander in DS9, now let's get a female commander." The whole concept rang hollow for me from day one and I never bought into her character. It also didn't help that the writing was really mediocre, especially in those first couple of seasons and that she did some really stupid things that any half-wit captain would never do (like giving up Voyager at the end of Season 1).

Much like Archer on Enterprise, Janeway on Voyager was one of the less interesting and more unrelatable characters of the show and when I'd tune in from time to time, I'd notice that many episodes pushed the focus away from her. Whereas Kirk, Picard and even Sisko were often the fulcrum of their respective shows, Janeway became very much part of the ensemble rather than the de-facto leader.

Overall, another piece of unremarkable casting for a less than memorable character who is now largely ignored if not downright forgotten.
