Picard shooting Soran
By Bucky

Is that any more cold-blooded than blowing him up? I think Picard in the final version meant to engage the clamps for the probe so when it "fired" all it did was blowback it's engine exhaust and torch Soran's platform. Maybe he DIDN'T intend to kill Soran, but it seemed pretty cold blooded anyway. Would him flat-out blowing him away make any more differance.

Also, I think Kirk getting shot in the back is lame, however Kirk dying in Picard's arm may have played better than having that tumble of wreckage in between them. However, the wreckage in the final version dos indicate how far away Picard is from Kirk and how he has no chance to save him.
